Running 19x12" what tire for a weekend street car
I am in the middle of a mini tub. Once that is complete, I will be adding air ride, the bag over shock variant, to the rear.
The rims will be the C6 Grand Sort rims to keep cost down.
What tires do you guys recommend? I want to run as much tire as I can so I am looking at 345/30/19s I think.
Something like a Toyo Proxy R888.
Opinions?

I have drag radial 555s on an 11" room now, 315s. Nitto tires seem to run thin for their reported sizes. That is the only reason I was not considering them.
Has anyone else seen those tech write ups on other sites about this issue. Goodyear, for example, at the same 345 is almost an inch wider

The Toyo R888 is the best street tire I've ever run....hands down. You'll love it.

What kind of life are you expecting? Mileage? The NT05s will give you 10-15K maybe. They get mixed reviews as far as wet performance but I wouldnt run them in the rain (not enough water channels). I've had the 555s and they felt short and thin compared to other 245 sized tires. Ive also heard from a nitto distributer that Nittos run small.
I heard great things about the new MT street comp tires and almost got them myself a few weeks ago when I got my new 20x10" rims with 295/35-20 Nitto Invos. I was running sumimoto HTRs 315/35-17s on my now old rims and they were decent.
Biggest thing for you will be how much mileage you want from them, grip, what weather/temp your going to drive in etc.

Re: Running 19x12" what tire for a weekend street car
Thanks for the advice custom. I will keep that in mind when selecting a size. I am about 2 days of work into the minitub right now so there is still plenty of time to make a choice. To be 100% honest. I plan to drive my car to work a couple times a week when it is done. I work in Pawtucket RI and live in Milford MA, about 30 miles each way, all highway. I will never drive in the rain and once it gets cold, the car will stay in the garage. I plan to put maybe 5k miles on the car a year MAX. Most likely less. Work and car shows, with fun on ramps in between. That is the goal of the car.
So for tire selection I am leaning more towards tread pattern, tire shape/size more than anything. I sort of suspect none of the tires I want will last a super long time, but that's ok. Not going to race or drive a ton anyways.

Right on. Thanks for the experience.
I think I may still go with the toyo r888s. I think they look great, and people that use them in vette forums seem to love them as well
