should i port these heads or get aluminum ones???

hey everyone. heres something we have been debating now for some time. my cousin wants more power. he has the vortec heads already with his crate motor.
now, here is the delema:
1) fully port the vortecs to stage 3 and have an outstanding flow (with matching RPM intake)
2) get a set of aluminum heads (trickflow, afr or edelbrocks) and maybe put a stage 1...at max, stage 2 port on them?

the afrs will be nice becasue they are already ported stage 1 factory. the aluminums will lighten the already heavy 3rd gen car.

i was told that a full stage 3 port is worth +/- 50 hp (not including matched intake). is this true?
we can probably get a set of aluminums cheap off ebay----but will the fully ported Vortecs make enough power to hang with the trickflows or edelbrocks or AFRs???

If money is not a factor, go with the AFRs. I love the Vortecs I have, but if I had the extra money, I would like to get a stock set of AFRs.

DO NOT PORT VORTEC HEADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
porting them almost always will make them flow worse. get the AFR 190's, they are great heads. what is all this stage 1 2 and 3 porting stuff i didnt think they had standards for porting

that stage 1,2 & 3 porting is just for talk. by this, they have steps: ex, stage 1 is a 3 angle valve job. stage 2 is intake runner and exhaust and 3 is the intakes/exhasut and 5 angle valve job. (i am not sure of what they actully do in stages, those are just ideas).

so, now that its settled on aluminums, anyone recomend a brand -----i would like personal responses (ie: elapsed times, power increases, etc etc)
thanks very much

Sorry I don't have any numbers, but I think if you have the money, AFR' can't be beat.
