If you want a crate motor, I think the ZZ4 short block is one of the best. Forged crank, PM rods, Hyper-u pistons, all brand new. I think it runs for $2000. If you want something cheaper, I think that pretty much all the GM replacments are good. Cheaper ones have cast crank and pistons.

Are you looking for a short block or are you looking for a crate motor?

A short block is just the block, pistons and crank. A crate motor is a complete engine from oil pan to intake.

If it's pre-assembled and comes in a crate, then its a crate motor whether it's a short or long block.

Yup, I think most people just think of a crate motor as ready to run.

My longblock crate motor, didn't come with intake/carb/dist/dampner the GM Goodwrench 350.

Car: Damn
Engine: This
Transmission: New Stuff
OK........I wont even ask about that.

I don't think Speed-o-motive sells roller short blocks FYI, or rolller engines at all for that matter. I would go with one of the GM shortblocks. Brand new, built by GM. Check out Scoggin Dickey's site for some prices.
