The spark singnal on a stock HEI starts to fall off at around 4500RPM, thats the biggest thing wrong with them. I myself like the MSD HEI but I also used a Davis Unified Ignition (DUI) in a dirt track car of mine and had no complains about it.

$329.95 is kind of expensive for a MSD distributor, you can get the MALLORY for $159.95 or even the PERTRONIX FLAMETHROWER for $219.95.....how do these 2 compare to the MSD?

I've got a distributor for an 86 IROC (coil in cap) with the DUI coil and module. It works awesome but I can't use it anymore because of the stealthram. PM me if you're intersted in it. It has about 15,000 miles on it.

You can find the MSD stuff on ebay, racer's auction, or racersjunk.com all the time for cheap. I would suggest an MSD 6A with a blaster 2 coil and one of thier billet dizzy's. You can get all of the above for like $200 which would blow away an hei setup.

Thier new coil per cylinder setup is pretty cool, I read about it in Super Chevy.

Does anybody have this Mallory HEI distributor, or have any complaints about it.

Best HEI Distributor?

Dave's

He will build just about anything if you ask and better than anything mass produced in a catalog.

Long as you give him the right parts to mod, Id go MSD trigger with the remote coil.

Best HEI Distributor

Place a write-in vote for Davis Unified (DUI) from Performance Distributors. Each HEI is serialized and kept on file. They customize your curve to your needs and if the HEI changes vehicles or your motor changes, for a nominal fee, they will pull your file and make the necessary curve changes. Very cool!
