Hey,
I own a 87 GTA, low KMS, now I have heard that the holley stealth ram sometimes fits and sometimes doesnt.
I was wondering if someone who either has one or knows, could tell me the exact measurements. The height from the Base to the highest point at the front and back of the ram. Also the widths.
Im not willing to cut my hood at all, so I dont want to spend the money if there is a chance that it wont fit. Thanks for any info.

Trans AM or Firebird with stock hood will NOT clear the Steath Ram, you must cut the under support so the plenum does not hit. Camaros will clear with the stock hood.
I'm a bit surprised that no one has mentioned this yet, but StealthRam.com should be able to answer most of the questions you may have...
Yea i have been there, checked there FAQ's n such, I just wanted actual dementions.
And as for the hood bracing, I dont want to cut it as they stuck it there for a reason lol. Just like people welding up the crumple zone gap.... crazy as far as im concerned, i want the hood to function as it was made to. (even if it is a minor brace)
yep won't fit then. you can check out the corvette boards on the hsr some guys have made new upper boxes that fit however you would have to see if they would even build one for you
the amount of bracing needed to be removed really is pretty small, don't go saying it will compromise the integrity of the car like modifying crumple zones. pull down the under-hood insulation and take a look for yourself.
as far as modifying the plenum like the vette guys do goes: vette doghouses are expensive, 5 minutes with a whiz-wheel and some spray paint on a 'bird hood isn't.
i cut the hood bracing on my 87 GTA, it made absolutely no difference. the hood is just as strong as it was before. and now i have an intake that'll actually pull to redline on the tach.

I dont know how much bracing to cut because I dont know the dementions.
Thats what im asking for!!!!
I want to know is like 1mm or like 2 inches.
What are the dementions of the stealth ram?
I dont need anyone else telling me it wont fit with out cutting, blah blah blah.
I want exact dementions so I can go and check for myself.
i can go measure mine in a couple of days, but lets say i gave you the dimensions, how exactly are you going to check it yourself if its going to hit the hood or not, are you going to lay on the engine and shut the hood on yourself with a tape measure?
You said it yourself, If it involves cutting the under bracing of the hood, "i'm not interested".
Everyone here has given you the details to whats involved in installing the HSR. I personally installed it and only had to cut a small portion of the bracing right above the throttle body. You want measurements, 2 centimeters!!
Like said before, cutting is a small price to pay for an intake that will blow the doors off TPI. And yet not jeopardizing the hoods intergrity.
Thank you for the measurements, if you could that would be awesome.
And no, no measuring tape, there is a compund you can use its kinda like clay in the sence I can roughly shape it and put it under the hood to determine how bad it hits.
FiXX90GTA - those arn't measurements I can use but thanks. And actually no one has yet to give me what I asked, and just cause I wont cut my hood doesnt mean that other people wont. Also the stealth ram is only 1 direction im thinking of going so if I dont think it will work well for what im willing to do, Ill just go with something else.
all you really need to do is shut your hood some and see where it's hitting the TB. once you see that spot, mark it with something and then cut out the area wider then the TB. I personally cut a large section out of my bracing, i cut out all the middle bracing, basically the entire area that the hsr takes up. i know i didn't need to, but i did it anyways.
You won't have to cut your hood if you buy an aftermarket cowl
cowls look like azz on birds - The ram air is sweet though...
- It's slightly different from car to car due to mount sag, hood alignement, etc. - Basically the TB on the HSR comes straight out, as where the TPI plenum angles it down slightly. Since it comes out square it runs into a section of the hood bracing, thus requiring trimming of the brace for a section about the size of the TB. - I have never heard of any one having any structural issues afterwards, as the factory has always a been a bit overkill. They have to build vehicles for the comon user, not someone who's actually going to take care of their car.
If you decide to trim the brace, just be sure you check clearnance for the linkage, the last thing anyone wants is to have the throttle stick.

Go with a Mini-Ram It has plenty of clearance & it gave me a definite seat of the pants difference in performance! Before, I would run out of motor @ about 5300, now it pulls hard to 6600 before I feel it necessary to shift before I blow the motor. My .02

I had a 89 GTA. I had a HSR. I milled 5/16 off the top of the base where the box bolts down.
It fit just fine then.
No I no longer have pics, I got rid of the car last year.
