SLP Air Foil

I have a 1992 z28 with a good amount of work done to it. It is running low 9's in the 1/8th which I dont find to bad for being a 305 and a convertible. I recently bought a SLP Air Foil from Summit and love it. It was around $60 but it was totally worth it. Not only does it give you a cool whistling sound while driving but it makes everyday driving a lot easier by giving the car more "positive" acceleration at 1/2 throttle.

did you also bypass your TB, you'll see better results with both done.

Re: SLP Air Foil

Yes it has a TB bypass, ac delete pully, s-10 heater box, siamesed intake runners, 1:6 ratio roller rockers, port and polished heads, custom burned chip by hypertec, hooker headers, a stock cam out of a 350, EGR block off, dual magnaflow exhaust with a x-pipe, 2200 stall, corvette servo, 3:42 gears, new posi unit, and thats about all I can think of off the top of my head. But yes the TB bypass and the air foil helped a lot. But like I said its running low 9's in the 1/8th with a 2.1 60 ft. Its not bad for a 305 but if you have any other ideas for the TP let me know im always open for suggestions.

you know i dont actually have any results to prove they work on paper or anything. but for everyday driving i have actually been able to tell a difference. they might be a waist of money if your building a race car or something but i was pleased with the results in my everyday driver.

Re: SLP Air Foil

Im thinking about getting one of those for my 87 camaro, but now you talk about a whistling sound it produces? lol I should check if I already have one because mine whistles alot when i get on the gas. To my main question, what is the TB bypass you guys are talking about?

Check the Tech Articles for throttle body coolant by-pass how-to instructions.

Yeah my TPI whistled quite a bit before the air foil too. Especially once I put the open cone filter on there and took off all of the stock intake pieces. Once you get the air foil you will notice it whistling a lot more at a lot less throttle than it did before.

Washing and waxing your car will also make it faster

Re: SLP Air Foil

I paid like $30 for mine off ebay... I don't think its worth all $60, but I also noticed a whistling/sucking noise...but I also have a cold air intake... and every little bit helps... specially with as many bolt ons as possible...

Re: SLP Air Foil

I mean 30 bucks is more like it, but for 60 bucks you could get a nice set of wires or something probably do better than an airfoil. 60 bucks for like 2hp I mean if i had the money i might get it

yes 60 dollars was a little high but thats the SLP one, plus shipping from summit. its actually $36.95 from summit [SLE-22100]. so about $40 dollars plus shipping to get it here a little early maybe. i dont remember if i payed for 2nd day air or anything.

They are charging for the machining involved, not really the actually metal.

You're also paying for all the countless hours of research and design. It probably took them weeks to get these air foils right. I never noticed any whistling sound nor any performance increase with mine. Heck I even descreened the maf sensor, installed an Accel ignition module, and threw in the air foil all at the same time. There was no difference at all when gunning it around with my L98 Formula.
