Hughes Transmission
Anyone here running a Hughes Transmission? They are in Phoenix at 2244 W. McDowell Phoenix, AZ 85009. I was thinking about running there 4L60/700r4 part #74-1 street/strip trans. I know Summit sells their trannys nationally but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with them or there products.

Re: Hughes Transmission
Hopefully someone out there will have one of there trannys and share there knowledge about there products.
It sounds like they make some heavy duty stuff for race cars based on there webpage. But it would be nice to hear from someone with experience dealing with them.
Anyone???

Re: Hughes Transmission
I have one. So far I like it. I haven't driven my car much though, I had a 383 in it till I quickly destroyed the motor. Now I have a new motor but haven't been able to drive it too much. I do have a hughes 2300 rpm stall converter I'd be willing to sell if someone wants it. I went with a coustom one for the new motor. The hughes does look nice its panted black and comes with a crome oil pan. I bought mine from summit but picked it up from hughes on Mcdowell Rd to save the shipping cost sence I live in PHX. Anyway, I like it so far.

Re: Hughes Transmission
How does it shift? Did you have to change govenors to get the full throttle shift points right?
I have a bowtie overdrive trans now and I just ordered a 5500 rpm gov. for it this is after they said that the trans that I bought was supposed to have the gov. that I ordered in it.

Re: Hughes Transmission
I have always heard great stuff about them and also art Carr but like any trans it depends on what is in front of it and what is inside it if it will hold up.

Re: Hughes Transmission
It was a couple years ago. I just went in and talked to the tech guy at the desk they are very helpfull. I don't know about the shift points. You could go in or call and ask them about it if you want to buy one. They don't like to sell direct so I just asked the summit guy to not charge the shipping and I bought it from summit but picked it up from Hughes you got to work it out with Hughes first though I think they don't do that alot. Also Lopers sells there products you cpuld buy it from them and have them match Summits price.
