Looking for feedback on the above noted sparkplugs for our 350 tpi, 3rd gen motors. Are these any good ?

Re: AC Delco #5 Platinum Rapidfire Spark Plugs

stock replacement for these cars appears to be rapid fire #2, any reason for wanting to use #5?

as for the brand/quality, i've always had great luck with ac delco plugs in my cars, only other option i go with on my own stuff is NGK

Thanks for the info Dan....According to one site I won't mention here is they state #5 as the plug to use...I guess I need to be educated on the #s Do the #'s mean thread length of the plug ?

Re: AC Delco #5 Platinum Rapidfire Spark Plugs

I think the number is the heat range. Anybody know why some auto parts web sites specify the #2 plugs with a .045 gap instead of .035? I was interested to hear what people thought about these plugs since I was thinking about getting them too. Apologize if I am hijacking your thread.

The gap should be whatever the sticker under the hood calls for. My car said 045, a lot of them say 035. Then a lot of people set it to 35 even if it calls for 45, since its less wear on your ignition and slightly more reliable spark with a smaller gap. Bigger gap supposedly gets a tiny bit more power though.

Not a complete expert, but my research so far suggests that the "hotter" the plug, the larger the gap required to prevent premature wear/burning of the plug electrodes.

Re: AC Delco #5 Platinum Rapidfire Spark Plugs

I wouldn't bother with platinum tips on a distributor ignition. Waste of money, doesn't last that much longer, and poorer performance because of cooler spark. Get old fashioned copper plugs. I use the NGK V-powers.

If you've got something with coil packs (much hotter spark) though, like the LS1's, platinum tip them buggers and don't look back.

Re: AC Delco #5 Platinum Rapidfire Spark Plugs

I thinking about using NGK (6630) UR4 V-Power Spark Plugs from amazon.com. I have a 1988 GTA 5.7L TPI stock coil. I am having hesitation and the engine runs rough. I installed these new parts so far: Accel 8mm race plug wires, MAF, IAC, Dist., and coil.

I also looked at ACCEL 8172 Performance U-Groove
and ACDelco 2 Rapidfire Spark Plug
