Alpine SPS-406 front speakers
Rather than buy OEM replacement front speakers, I opted for an upgrade to aftermarket good stuff. These Alpine speakers really sound great.
I was especially impressed with all the "stuff" that came in the box along with the speakers. There were two sets of adapters to help them fit, one thick plastic set and a metal, recessed fit pair. I chose the metal ones so that the speakers would sink as low as possible into the dash under the factory speaker grilles. It DID take me some cutting and grinding to make the holes in the dash accept the larger magnets but its well worth it.
If you are mechanically inclined and don't mind fabrication, I recommend these as an excellent upgrade. If you only like bolt on ready parts, these are not for you. I saw no way to do that.

Re: Alpine SPS-406 front speakers
After doing lots of reading on here (and measuring my IROC) it seems that if you use the flat plastic spacers they fit well with no mods in a Camaro dash.
Firebird guys may have a clearance issue. When I measured mine, I decided that sinking them down low was the best bet.
So I guess it IS plug and play for Camaro guys. I can vouch for the sound; AWESOME...
