SLP customer appreciation day, no more

I was planning on goin to this event in Sept i beleive in Bristol, Tenn. I've been working hard on restoring my car for this time. I guess my anger is also from trying to order stuff and being told to wait anywhere from 2 weeks to longer now this. I used to really like this company. Just wondering what other people think about this. Thanks

Nick

They also canceled 2 other dates. 1 date is still on. Go to there web page to find out.

whoa.....ya scared me for a sec............

straight from SLP's site -
"Dear Valued Customers,

We regret to announce that due to economic factors beyond our control, we have been forced to cancel our 2003 Race Day events in Palmdale, Calif. (April 26); Indianapolis, Ind. (June 21); and Bristol, Tenn. (September 13). The Englishtown, N.J. Race Day will still be held on October 11th as originally planned.

Since its inception in 2000, the Race Day series has been our way of saying thanks to the thousands of loyal customers who have supported SLP Performance Parts throughout the years. Unfortunately, we have found that the tremendous expenditures associated with staging these totally free events on a nationwide basis are simply not sustainable in the current economic climate. Canceling these dates now, while difficult in the short term, will allow us to refocus our efforts on maintaining the high standards of quality and customer service to which you have become accustomed.

As always, we appreciate your support and look forward to serving you in the future.

Best Regards,
The SLP Performance Parts Staff"

I mean it sucks for you and the rest of you guys who were planning on going to these events - but ENGLISHTOWN is still on....at least Jersey is good for something!

Damn that sucks. I was going to go to Maryland for TG Nats, but my car has given me so many problems that I don't want to risk it on a 1,400 mile round trip. It also cost me too much to fix those damn problems, so now I can't afford to make the trip in the first place. Sucks for TG Nats, cause I said I would go. I am letting mark keep the money I gave him for the event though, I still want it to happen even though I can't attend.

And SLP day was my backup plan in case I couldn't go to Maryland. :*( So now I guess we have to MAKE an event happen locally.

I could say this sucks, but I already said that.

Sorry fot the harsh words but with me i'm in Miss. In the military not real easy to get time off. but bristol is only 6 hours away and getting 3 day off is easier then get a week or 2 to go to a car show. I appreciate the response. One thing i'd like to add is i've heard good things about the company but lately things are going down hill. Then this. but oh well. Also if you were to charge a small fee 20-50 dollars i think that would help your shows and people mostly understand that it's hard to do a free show. just an idea though.

I'd be willing to pay a cover charge, I mean its not that much in the end. If it was about $10 to $20 then it would definitely be possible to put on a show. If 1,000 people showed up SLP would reap $10,000 to $20,000 towards the costs of putting it on. I realise that that is probably just a drop in the bucket when considering the budget on these show's.

Here is the response i got from a VP/GM

Dear Nicholas, We feel terrible that we had to cancel the event. Believe me, it was not done to make our customers mad at us. We have had hundreds of emails asking us to continue to
have these events and that they would be willing to pay to attend. We are definitely looking into ways to cut down on the cost and charging a small fee at the gate is one of them. Please
understand, we appreciate your business. That was the real reason why we started having these events, to show our appreciation to our loyal customers. We do hope to go to
the Tenn. area next year and I hope that you will forgive us for the decision that we had to make and come out to the event and have a great time. I hope that you will reconsider and continue to support SLP so that having these events in the future will be a definite possibility.

Have a great day,

Colleen A. Meyer
VP / GM
