HSR starting problems
I have a 1998 gmc k1500, fairly modified 388 stroker motor with Holley STEALTH ram injection, 30 lb injectors, 411 ecm tuned by BBP, the problem is when I first try to start the motor it cranks a quick second, fires and then dies, its not security related, on second try it will do the same but if I feather the throttle it will stay running and after about 30 seconds of working the throttle between 800 and 1800 rpms it will stay running at an idle. my feeling is its a fuel injected motor I shouldnt have to touch the throttle. Fuel pressure is 44lbs at the fuel rail. What should I be looking for?

Re: HSR starting problems
Have to rule out tune that was done from data logging and then to follow that up there was an in person tune performed, there is a check engine light on so yeah codes are there, scan tool **** the bed, but will try to get the codes put on here by the end of the day, thanks.

Re: HSR starting problems
Well is this a cold start or hot restart issue? When does it happen? In cold weather or all the time?
I they didnt have the car for several days attempting cold starts then the tune still needs work. Dataloggin and dyno/street run tuning is fine for driveability but does nothing for first starts. Warm starts is fairly easy but cold takes time
My car is 411 swapped and is the same way. It doesnt cold start real good yet and needs throttle for a few seconds before idle holds on its own. Cold start crank fuel tables need worked and you only get one chance to test per day. Warm start is generally fine but occassionally it wont fire but just crank and code will flash. Its something with cam sensor circuit but if i try to start again it fires up fine. Its alittle annoying but not sure what else i can do about that

Re: HSR starting problems
Yeah i think alittle work to the fueling on cold crank is what it needs. If it needs throttle i would guess thats sayin its to rich and needed the air to start. Quick test is tryin lowering fuel pressure down a good bit to see if it starts easier
