Hey, I just got off the phone with Lee Pappas Body shop. They have completed the work on my car. I am so excited. Getting her back this weekend.

If you don't recall, my car got run over by a truck in July. Since then I did alot of prep work myself and I bought all my parts, hood, fenders, front clip etc.

I put off taking her to the shop for awhile, cuase of money and I was building the new engine and beefing up other parts of the car.

Well I dunno what I should do, drive the car multi-colored and keep building my engine so it will be ready this spring, or should I go ahead and get her all purdy and worry about putting my motor in the fall.

What do ya think? I''ll take some photos when I get her back this weekend.

Glad to hear you are getting it back. I say if ya got a decent motor in there now get her painted and wait for the motor. Just my 2 cents

I think its better to drive a good looking car than
having a lot of horsepower in a ****ty car.
Anyway i hope the result is good.

Do both, I would love to spend 6 months building a killer motor and making the body look bad azz and then paint the engine bay and drop the motor in next and fix any kinks with it then paint.

Well when I get her back it will be a month or so before I paint her. I want to shave the molding on the doors, shave the antena, and the door handels, and smooth a few things out.



I am getting the car painted Candy Apple Blue with Silver Metallic Flake and having the IROC-Z Graphics and Stripes, stenicaled on the car underneath the clear coat with ghost flames trailing the IROC-Z lettering.

Whaca think about that idea!

I thought about doing something similar when I got mine painted last year but after looking around at other peoples cars I discovered that either too many people had done what I wanted to do, or their cars didn't turn out as they had envisioned. I seen quite a few botched jobs and wouldn't even attempt to do it unless I was skilled enough to do it myself.

The guy I am having paint the car specializes in hot rods and this type of paint job. His work is highly recommended, been featured in several mags across the nation.

Its gonna be pricey to at 3500 dollars

Actually I have someone else doing all prep work, this guy is pulling off the front clip, hood and fenders to paint them since the car was smashed, and he is gonna paint the core support.

I still have it. I'm in the middle of moving this month, just shelled out a 1400 deposit for my new house. Now I gotta go to the bodyshop on Friday afternoon to pick up my car and shell out 950$ big ones. Ouchie.

Oh well. I'll have my new motor and paint and eat my cake too hehe

to "shave" the molding on the door all you have to do is pull it off. Don't just yank it off do it slowing but you get the idea, clean off the glue crap left behind and prep the area.

just an idea, but you might want to do the motor during the paint, think of how much more relaxing the motor install would be knowing that you dont have to worry about scratching the paint. also think about how pissed you would be if you did scratch the brand new paint. good luck with it all!!
