You can get the pulley he has BUT you cannot completely do away with the box like he did. If you do you wont have heat either. I know in PA you need heat. So do I...thats why I still have the box there.

Find a non ac box from a camaro or s10. Cleans things up nicely.

WOW sorry for the hugemosis pic. Anyways yours probably looks like mine. Which is how you have to keep it unless you want to lose heat.

just bought this, i just need to unbolt the old one, most bolts you can get to from under the hood, the other bolts at the bottom you need to apparently work from the inside passengers side to get them in..

after that i should have heater still

Hey burnout what did you use to remove the big silver canister bit that was there just before the box? I tried for the life of me to get it off and couldn't seem to get it. Any special tricks? I plan on taking the condenser out this summer (planning on a new radiator, gonna try for valve guide seals, u-joints, ect. ) and would like to get rid of that one bit on the inside thats left from the A/C

with that silver canister, your not trying to turn the nut welded to it are you??? Hold the nut on a canister with a wrench, and turn the nut on the line with the other and it will loosen up.

If your car is a daily driver, removing the heater box completly would be a nono considering defrost is important in PA climates.

There are 2-3 bolts on the pass. side inside the car, just lift the carpet up.

I cut my box in 1/2 and had a box fabbed up to allow heat to go in, it's a lot smaller and leaves plenty of room.

I posted pics on the tech board a while back, try a search, I don't have it installed yet though.

It's not hard to remove all that stuff. I took out the AC in 5SIZ's Iroc and it took us about 2.5 hours. Pretty easy if you ask me. Half of the bolts are in the pasanger compartment.

Also, getting the canister off wasn't that hard. Your best bet is to get some small wrenches and bust out with the 1/4 inch sockets.
