i love photochop

well, i was playing around with some ideas on body ideas. well, here is one of my faves that i just did. only other change i could think of (which is more feasible) is adding a notchback to it. but, as is, this thing looks very close to its bigger brother. i really think i may do something like this to mine. lemme know what you think.

....oh, and if you cant figure it out, i chopped to back bumper off. really, really like how the cali iroc looks. may just have to take off my spoiler

yeah, the bigger bro comment was meant toward the vette. i havent looked underneath the bumper cover yet, so i have no clue what it would look like. i imagine there will be some metal cutting. not as safe as it is in stock form, but you see many trucks that do something similar with their bumpers. maybe weld up some extra bars if necessary underneath the modified bumper cover for extra strength.

here's a pic thats got the side of the rear lights removed to. even better lookin.

That looks awesome, the only way to improve it would be to make one, and then make it insanely fast.

I think that looks awesome. I think thats why the no spoiler looks good on that car though, because it doesn't have that rear bumper sticking out there. And I don't think there is any real way you could do that with your car and still have it be safe at all. If you get hit its going to take out your lights/hatch almost for sure.

does anyone have pics of a camaro without the bumper cover on it? i'm wondering what it looks like underneath. i know many truck owners get rid of their bumpers and give it a smoother look, just wondering what i have to chop off underneath

I'll get some pics tonight if nobody else puts any up. I have my bumper cover and the rear impact bar removed on my car at the moment.

Alright here are some pics that I snapped, I don't have the impact bar bolted in, just set in there and I just threw the light in for reference.

thanks for the pics. well, now i have a better idea of what i'd be up against. is the impact bar plastic or metal? if its plastic, then i think i could get away with just some metal tubing. not quite enough to be as safe the regular bar, but hey, that customization too bad i wont be doing this for quite some time (if i even do)...

The honeycomb stuff is plastic, the stuff behind it is metal though. If you remove the honeycomb you 'might' barely have enough room, but it looks like you would probably still need to fab something.

Me like....:hail:

Someone could fabricate a flat bumper out of sheetmetal and mass produce it....I could probably do it if i had the materials, and the time....don't know about mass producing it though...

i was thinking of maybe picking up a second cover just to cut up and see how it looks. but metal would be a much better idea. couple of supports welded to it or at least bolted to where the old plastic insert attached. man, i really wanna do this now. why do i gotta come up with expensive hobbies......

I like that look! Definitely give it a try... unless it's a daily driver... you don't want to get rear-ended without a bumper.

I also like Photoshop.

Cause I can make things like this:

I'm working on some other projects right now so things aren't moving very quickly but I'm also working on this too. I have an extra rear bumper cover because I"m switching to 91/92 gfx, so I have my old 88 bumper cover. I also have an extra rear impact bar, I was just going to throw it away because it is all rusted through on the bottom. Anyways, I drilled all the rivets out holding the honeycomb stuff on and have just the metal bar now, it looks like it might need some slight modification but I think it will probably work. Also I'm not sure if you can make the rear bumper completely flush and have it look good by cutting up the old bumper. There is a lip of sorts that sticks out past the taillights and I think I am going to follow that lip first and see how things look.

Coming monday or so I can probably snag a few pics of what I've done so far and what I'm thinking about doing if anyone is interested.

i dont i was just thinking that it would look kooler to move the lisence plate from between the rear break lights to down in the bumper like the firebird and puting a black plexi glass cover over that old spot so it looks like there wasnt even a lisence plate there

Ya, it's photoshopped like BTS88IROC said.
I think I'll be done in 6 weeks or so. Traded my leather seats for a dash, some other seats, and a meziere electric pump.
So as soon as those come, I'll start working on the car again.
There really isn't anything for me to really do right now.

i'm about 95% done with my engine swap. just gotta hook up the torque arm and then let the tweaking begin. burning a chip for a 400 with tbi is gonna be a nightmare....
