I have a compressor not a bog one but it does most of what I need. I am in the process of preping my car for paint. I have been looking for an air gun that my compressor could handle but I see alot of the air guns require a lot of air probably more than my compressor can handle. Has anyone used an electric spray gun and if so what were the results. I here they dont atomize as well as air. I know some of you will say why not rattle can the car. Well......I thought about it for a second and if I am gonna do this I want to do it right. Does anyone know of an airgun that will work on the average size compressor? I dont know the rating off hand all I know is it is a Ranger compressor with I think a 13 gallon tank and I believe a 2 hp electric motor. Thanks for all serious replies.

5 hp and 20 gallons is a minimum for any airgun... now after you have that you look... your average HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) gun needs between 80 and 120 psi... and yes, a airgun will make a much better job than an electric gun... though an electric gun will be less expensive than rattle cans, it won't make a better job

This is just a thought so dont flame me here....what if I piggyback another tank on my compressor to double the capacity would this be beneficial or even work. What about a non HVLP gun would that work a high pressure gun. Has any one used the electric gun by KREBS?

No NO.... Non of the house stuff. There is an electric spray gun out there by KREBS for auto painting. I wante to know if anyone had ever used one and if it might be any good

the problem with hooking tanks is that it won't boost the power of your compressor... and soon enough you will lack pressure and will do a crappy job of painting your car... same will do with your eletric gun... believe me, unlike mechanics... if you are not equipped to paint you better leave it to professionals or at least find a place where you can rent the equippement

Kinda off the wall option but... ever think about checking out the pawn shops for a better compressor for a good price?

Thanks for the thought no pawn shops in this town When I was in the military they were outside every gate.
