We've all tried to stuff too much crap into out tiny hatches and backseats before. Share some things that you have (un)successfully transported in your thirdgen.

I suppose I will start.

Last year I got all planned for a trip to Virginia to golf (hotel reservations and all) before I realized that I would be the only one able to drive. Needless to say that I had to pull the speakers out of my hatch and carefully stack golf bags around so that 3 people, their clubs, and their luggage would all fit. Boy was that a tight ride.

I used to work at a kids furniture store in high school, this has been about 6 years ago.

Some guy and his woman bought a baby crib and a mattress and when they pulled around to the cargo door for me to load it up, he was driving a 91-92 Camaro convertible. I was like doh!

He had to put the top down (this was in december too) and stick the box vertically behind the front seats and squeeze in the little matress too. Some bailing twine and some smooshed boxes and he was on his way....


Ive personally transported chairs, night stands, coffee tables, and my mountain bike in my car. (NOT ALL at the same time however.)

Our thirdgens can carry a lot of stuff, if it's shaped properly.

First would be everything in my dorm for college. It took alot of work getting it in there, but the lo3 sure didn't like dragging all that weight up mountains.
Most of an interior on another trip, managed to squeeze that in.
Then a radial arm saw, and a shop vac, that was done with the hatch open and the passengers holding onto the stuff.

ive had 5 people and a full keg in my car leaving the beach, and no the keg doesnt fit in the hatch area

Hehe now this is a good thread. We've had a third gen in the driveway for 15 years now, it's been used many many times as a truck...

we've hauled:

Bags of cement
Plants
2x4's
4'x8' sheets of plywood
cement stepping stones
electric cooking stove -- hatch had to come off for that one

in the past MONTH:



took out the passenger seat so i could fit some of this:


a engine stand(disassembled.)
a complete 400SBC with 700R4 attached
the same engine stand again
a T56 trans and misc parts needed for install.
a LT1 10bolt rear




last year, i also carried a factory notchback in the convertible.
me and a friend were at a yard and there it was...
after haggling down to $35 for a "camaro hatch" we got it

i then drove 20mph with my friend holding on to it the entire way home. very cool.

ive also held 6 people in the car....(Plus me)... not going to do that again anytime soon... lol.

plus theres a ton of misc stuff as im moving around... boxes and such.

since the seat is only 4 bolts, i pull the passenger seat out quite often.. and with the top down i can just place stuff in like a low truck.

btw, thats somthing i dont understand... people rip out the AC, and padding and all this other stuff that doesnt weigh much, but is a inconvenience and a PITA to remove.
yet they leave this heavy passenger seat attached... with a 13mm socket and a ratchet, i can remove it in under a min. *shrug*

Well ive been in a camaro with 7 people, it wasn't mine so I got the honer of being with 5 people in the back seat. The record for my car so far is 6.
