what takes paint off glass?

is there anything that will take paint off of glass? the previous owner of my car had it painted, and somehow they got some overspray on the driver side window. i have the windows tinted 15% and the paint is white, so it's fairly noticeable.

i tried scraping it off with a razor blade but it didn't even chip it. so any kind of solution that will take it off?

i used just a razor blade on my windshield, but then again i didn't have tint. this was even after the paint had been there for a couple weeks, it came right off.

well the tint doesn't affect anything....the paint is outside and the tint is inside.....but i used a razorblade and i couldn't chip or scratch ANY of the paint off, not even a little bit...i guess i'll try acetone if i find out where it's sold....is it like paint thinner? so at lowe's or home depot?

They used to put acetone in nail polish remover so you can look for that...just make sure you don't buy a bottle that says acetone free like someone i know

You could also use a paper towel dampened with acetone or laquer thinner (sold in the paints dept. of any harware store). Moisten the paper towel and let it sit on the paint for a little bit, re-wet as needed and then you should be able to use the razor to scrape the paint off pretty easily. Keep the overspray damp while scraping.

i wasn't planning on dousing the weatherstripping with acetone or anything, but would it eat through it or damage it if some got on it? i'll be careful not to let it drip onto the rubber, but if it does is it bad?

It's not going to eat the w'strip up like it would a styrofoam cup but, it may dry the seal out a little which can be fixed using something like mothers tire shine or similar non-petrolium gloss protector.
If you're truely worried, just buy some 3M tape and tape off the seal to help avoid getting thinner on it. Also, you don't have to have the rag or paper towel dripping wet. Just enough to be damp and 'stick' to the spot. It's the same idea as letting paint stripper work it's magic when removing paint from body panels. It just needs to keep from drying out long enough to attack the paint making it soft enough to scrape.

i got overspray on my hatch glass and paint thinner took it right off. wont hurt the glass at all, just clean it with glass cleaner after you get all the paint off.

as many times as ive primered mine ive used a widget, which holds a razor blade like a sticker scraper to remove it.
i found that if it dont work hold it out more like instead of laying down on the glas w/ the whole blade tilt it towards yurself more so its like goin straight into the glass w/ the blade perpendicular is the word i think.
parralel would be holdin it the 1st way were its laying down.
so hold it more horizontal and make sure its a brand new out of the box razor else itl take forever.
but id just turn mine morehorizontal and lil more pressure and yea sometimes itll jump make bad noise on glass liek its gonna scratch it or damage but never did.
thinner works but i had some on my tail lights fomr previous owner and thinner didnt do crap so ui broke out the blade brung it right off.

also its easier n safer to use the holder for the blae instead of using yur hands/fingers to hold it bare.

Works great!! Thats what most paint guys use around here. Make sure it's steelwool though and not some other lookalike abrasive. Won't scratch the glass either.
