Polished a rim, 1 down 3 to go
Well after some modivation i finally got around to start to polish my rims, ive gotten one done so far. i still have to sand and paint the inserts on the rims but its goin to look good when done.
the pics arnt the best, i took them at about 7pm tonight so ill try and get some good ones tomarrow

last pic for now. what do u guys think, i started with a ruff sandin disk for my die grinder and then went with 120-180-320wet-400wet-600wet-800wet- white rouge compound on a stiff pad and then a soft pad - then finished with a buffing pad with mothers billet alumin polish. estimated time about 3-4 hours.

no, im goin to paint them like a metallic silver color. i need to find the stuff again, my brother used it on his 91 z28 rims and it was almost the stock silver color that the rims came with but with a metallic kick in it.

I did mine with dark metallic wheel paint they came out very nice the pics dont do it justice though

Ahh I just finished my last two... took me quite a bit more that 3-4 hours each. Now I just have to get the tires switched on them... Wait until there all done and painted they look tons better

thanx guy, but yeah pics dont do justice, ill be happy once i finish the other 3 and then paint them.

Heres one of mine, I need to pull them back off the 85 and re buff them then zoopseal then in so I wont have to worry about oxidization anymore

Hey 85sportcoupe do u think if i went up from 800wet to like 1500 or 200 wet and then rebuff with the white rouge and then mothers ill get a better result?

most people reccomend only going to 400 wet, and then using emery, tripoli, and then white rouge... if your skipping the the first two polishing steps I dunno tho, aparently sanding any higher than 400 will promote a cloudy effect on the wheel

You might want to sand it back to 400 wet before you use the compounds just to make sure. I picked mine up at Home Depot for like $4 a pop... I wouldn't buy polishing wheels there tho mine went pop before I finished my wheels

yeah i already have 3 polishin pads for my right angle die grinder. i got a mediume soft(yellow pad), soft(white pad) and then a buffing pad (nice soft and fluffy pad).

lol I was using my roomates electric drill and all cotton wheels... worked out great anyways until I broke the polish wheels
