Because i have nothing better to do at work today.......Here is a shot of Kandied's wheel, notice the entire chrome valve stem as featured on my wheels as well....

Don't leave the stem black and just throw a chrome cover on it.....

thanks flyinlow92rs , i guess its chrome then , i guess it will match the billet rims . As for my rims shipment isnt taking long , they just havent been finished . I ordered them june 3rd . When i ordered them they told me 6-8 weeks, i then emailed them again and they said an esitmated date of completion is the 3rd of august . SO i went ahead and ordered my tires today from tirerack and will get them wed . I got yokohama avs sport 245/40-18 fronts and 275/35-18 for the rear . I cant wait to get all this stuff, but it feels like by the time i get the stuff the car will be getting put away for the winter. its major that it takes this long for boyd rims.

ugh...that picture kills me.

billet wheels take so long because they have to be built. they are made one by one and you've seen american hotrod i'm sure. they aren't exactly a quick group of guys!

it took roughly 8 weeks for my wheels to come. the wait is normal but it's worth it in the end. this sort of mod is really something that should be done over the winter. be glad you have wheels though. i had the car sitting on a lift for 4 weeks when i sold the z06 wheels as a down payment for the boze wheels.

anyway on to topic. you could get aluminum stems and polish them. i'd just go chrome like mine. you can't really notice. the one problem with your wheels will be the stepped lip your talking about so they will stand out. my wheels are reverse mounted or deep dish so the stems actually on the inside. gives a cleaner look in my opinion with the deep dish but it's a pain to work with the stem on the wider rear tires.

another thing. when you get your wheels if you haven't already you should consider putting a protectant on them right away. i have heard zoop seal works good, i'll be trying it over the winter but i would definately get some 100% carnuba or similar substance and put a few layers on the rim before you drive off. you'll thank me later. i use meguiars professional series step 3 100% carnuba but any all carnuba should work.

wait until you get them...could be more, could be less. summer is the worst time to order wheels.

zoop seal , isnt that stuff really expensive . Like 179 for the stuff. Now if i dont go that route which i probably wont , what do i use, 100 percent carnuba. And put about three coats on . Whats this going to do for me . Im new to the wheels so i have no clue how to care for them or wash them or anything.
