Crovax: I'm sorry I can't remember where I got the blackouts:shrug:
It was back in the late 80's, and as far as I know, I could have ordered them from JC Whitney.
All I can remember, is that it seemed to be the popular mod at the time, and a buddy of mine had them on his 84 T/A.

They don't stay on the best though, as I was out to the Trans Am Nats. this year, and nearly had one fly off as I was going down the freeway. Luckily, the buddy of mine that was riding with me, saw it flutter up above the hood, and I was able to slow down in time before it came completely off.

I really like the way it changes the look of the front end, just have to keep it under 80 mph, with them installed

Those covers are/were made by a company called GTS.
I have two sets. One new in the box, one without!
I could not get myself to install them onto my 1989 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am though!
Still hanging onto them though, in case I get another third gen to play with!
I do think they look killer!

IIRC, the covers were offered in to forms, one for the 82-84 front bumper cover, and the other for the 85-90 bumper cover.

This was because of the smaller and slightly different shaped pocket area, on the 85-90.


billsfirebird: Thanks for the comments on the car and the wheels, they were just a quick strip polish and buff, before the Nats. I would like to set down again, and get them even better.

I want to do that to my wheels. Did you just get some paint stripper and remove the clear coat, polish, and re-apply the clear?

Anything would look better than the condition my wheels are in. They almost look yellow due to the clear coat fading.

Well, actually, I have redone these wheels 2 different times.
1st time, they were stock, and I chem. stripped them, repainted the gray, and then re-clearcoated them. That was back in 1989.

This last time, the clear was starting to look bad again(mostly chipped clearcoat) and I didn't want to repaint the gray, so I spent alot of time sanding the clear off of only the machined areas, without damaging the gray painted areas, and then used a high speed die grinder w/ polishing wheel, and an assortment of compounds, to buff it to there present shine. But like I said, they could have a few more hours,each, spent on them, to get them even shinier.
And no clear was used this time around, no more chips. And I think they have a much higher shine like this, than with clear sprayed on them.

I'm pretty sure they're not made anymore...but is there any way one you guys with them can make a paper template of them. Like take some cardstock and trace them? I think I can get a set made locally and I've always liked that look.
