Thirdgen in a wedding?

I'm not sure where to post this, but..

Next spring I plan on gettting married, and I want to have my IROC in the wedding (to drive off in with the cans and streamers trailing).. to accomplish this, i may have to have a professional paint it (bummer, because i wanted to.. oh well, maybe some other vehicle)..

Has anyone else here done this? got an pics or vids?

Heck yeah!

Mrs. KenV and I were married last September. Due to a snafu with an Ebayer, we couldn't take our freshly-restored-by-us Mustang (engine came way too late for us to install it). Instead we took the Formula, peeling paint and all. I have pics (somewhere, lol) of the car with a reverse banner up front ("Just Married", of course) and the entire rear window emblazoned with the usual hearts and such. Our whole trip to Monterey and back was full of folks honking horns, waving, etc., to the point that we didn't care that the Formy was pre-restoration, as in 20% of the paint gone, some light rust here and there, no rear wing, etc. We kinda enjoyed parking wherever we wanted too. And parking SUCKS in Monterey/Pacific Grove.

It's good that you'll be painting the car first. Don't get me wrong, we would have preferred a cleaner car at the outset. But since our kids will see the Formy with fresh paint, new 383, Ronals, etc., we look at it for what it was: Reliable transportation (with "character"? lol) that could still hit 140 on the drive back. Well, the trans died this year, but let's leave that out of the movie

Congrats on your upcoming wedding. Here's to smooth sailing!

I remember seeing my father's wedding pics - Green Nova (powered by a 327) with the cans and streamers, and i have wanted to have a nice, powerful car and do that at my wedding ever since..

thanx for the support guys

im gonna go down and talk to a local paint shop (have seen some of the work they have done on some nice 1st gen Camaros and such) and see if i can get a good deal if i give them like four months to do it and bring it in in pieces.. Just have them call me when they get done with the rocker GFX, then front bumper cover, then the rear, then the doors, etc.. I hope that will give me a good discount because they dont have to do any tearing down or putting back together...

C'mon it was a funny comment, and let's face it, somewhat true....

In all seriousness though, I have never seen a third-gen to be used in a wedding...

I'd say it would be perfectly accetable if the reception has a keg(s) or an open-bar...

Otherwise...

lol, kegs a plenty

The wedding and reception are going to be completely formal and pretty much completely traditional.. (best man gives the speech, etc)

anyone think the cans and streamers are too much?

congrat's on the wedding.
I say do it as long as you make sure nobody puts cereal in your seats. Somebody did that at my buddies wedding and we still find cereal when we have to reach under the seats for something that seems to have run away.

This sounds kind of retarted now, but when I was younger I had a girlfriend that had a white 92 RS and i have my black 88 IROC. We thought our dream wedding would be just behind the water box at the dragstrip. After the ceremony, we were going to get in our respective cars and race each other down the dragstrip with cans, streamers and nice smokey burn outs... Ah youth I don't think my current girlfriend would be too enthused with that idea though hahaha.

You mean you didn't marry her? IF I had a girl that made dreams like that with me I would never let her leave.

Didn't really surprise me to see that you live in Wisconsin..

I'd personally get a limo instead of dragging old cans behind my car, but that's just me I guess.

Maybe I'm just a yankee who needs to get in touch with his roots?

Image removed- No need to waste server space with useless pics.

to tell you the truth, i have never seen someone drag cans behind their car, just saw it in movies (EDIT:: and in my dad's wedding pics)... and im not gonna spend the money on a limo.. i would rather put that into the honeymoon, which is looking like we are gonna go to europe or something

but thanx for the insult anyway

I have seen a third gen in a wedding back in 93 when my uncle got married. It was a 89 firebird, and an 89 Mustang LX i believe.
