I sold the car about 2 years ago, but it the paint was all original. The roof and deck lid on the back were faded, along with the rear bumper cover.

As far as I know my GTA still has original paint. I do know that the front bumper has been repainted a couple of times by the previous owner, but he did not mention anything else. I have owned the car since 1998 and have not painted it, and he owned it before me since 1991-1992. So as far as I know it is a Van Nuys original!

Original 15 year old, 140k mile Van Nuys paint.

It is starting to fade around the plastic pieces (front valance, spoiler, etc), but other than that, it is in beautiful condition for its age and abuse.

A little of everything.

I usually don't wash the car, so the car wash solution used isn't an issue. I have used Meguiar's polish, their #7 yellow wax, Formula 113, and Wizard's Polish. I usually polish it then apply a light coat of #7 wax.

dont want to sound like a dick scottmoyer but im just curious what happend to the right side of the 3 pc spoiler?
If your asking about the gap, that's factory quality!! These are the things that get over-restored when people restore their cars. The rear hatch, fenders and hoods usually line up when the people had a good day.

That again goes back to the overrestoration. There are very few cars out there that have been repainted that you can't tell. Most shops can't duplicate the orange peel of the factory. You can also tell by the overspray. On a 1000 point judging, people know what to look for. A repaint will have something done different that will be noticed. My car is easy to tell. It came from Van Nuys and isn't perfect, but is mint for a 19 year old car. If you look closely, you'll see 2 dark bands of metalflake on either side of my gas door. The factory sprayers went at slight angles since they were moving front to back while spraying up and down. In certain light, you can see it on my car. I've seen it on other original cars that have metallic paints. If you paid $3k for a paint job, would you allow this kind of imperfection or would you require the shop to fix it? That's how you can tell an original from a repaint.

I also forgot, to get a nice shine, before the hand polish and wax, I use a polishing compound with a buffer.

Looks great......I was wondering if it was Meguiar's thats all I have used on mine since 87 .....never been buffed or washed with anything but a power spray

On the paint imperfections mine has a small finger nail size lump in the middle of the pass. door

This is the original paint from all that I know, but when you look at it, the clearcoat is peeling all over. You cant really tell from pics tho.

Gotta say that white is such a forgiving color. I dont really have to deal with many of the problems associated with the reds, maroons, blacks, blues, and even yellows of the rest of you guys.

same with the gunmetal, never looks dirty and its a lot harder to see little dings and such.

A few pics of mine when i forst got it last fall. Orginal paint, 134,000 miles. clear is pealing on the rear bumper cover, and a little paint pealing on the roof. And of course, the door damage. So, now it has red/primer doors, and primer fenders, awaiting paint when the weather gets nice in the spring.
