What state do you guys live in? Reason? Here, in NY, we have to run the front license plates, which gets in the way of taking great pictures of the front of your car, since I don't wanna take the plate off everytime to show the emblem behind it.
Not a big deal, but what states don't you have that problem in, and is the overall consensus that we'd rather not have a front plate (obviously can't break the laws though)
We're stuck with 'em here in Mass... I use 3M double-sided tape on mine, it holds great & it peels off easy if you're careful.

I broke the law for probably 15 years before I had to put one on. I live in Washington. Drove thru a no tolerance zone down by the waterfront. The cop walked out into the lane I was in and motioned me into the parking lot where he was parked. No warning ... gave me a ticket.
How about one of those things the street rodders use that fold up and tuck in when you shut your car off? I have a T/A so there isn't an openeing but maybe there would be room on your Camaro.
Almost every state west of the Mississippi requires a front plate. East of the Mississippi the opposite is almost true. I found this site with a quick google search.
i live in Cali and i have have my license plate on at all times, but i have mine on with zip ties so when i take pics of it i cut the zip ties and when im done i put more zip ties plate.JPG
cant beat the look of no license plate in front
Missouri requires front plates, but never put them on any of my vehicles for the past 15 years. I do keep them under the front passenger seat just in case.
Down here in Florida they dont really care about much. Im from NH and you have to have it on at all times, i only ran mine to pass inspection and than took it off. Had trouble a few times up there but down in Fl, not so much as a second look. The front plate is actually hanging on my wall above my comp lol.
I lived in NY for years and never put it on my 87 and got away with it. So, it probably depends on the cop you run into.....of course you are giving them a reason to pull you over, but maybe when you get pulled for speeding you can ask them to give you a ticket for that instead!
I hate having to display a front plate.I wish they would just get rid of it.I know there are some ok lookin dedicated plates but they are pricey.
btw...your car is so sexy, I wouldnt worry bout the plate!
:\ Live in Connecticut; and we need a front license plate; kind of makes me sad. How are you able to share the wonderful glory of that beautiful bowtie to everyone.. -sigh- well anyways all they'll be seeing anyways is my back
You don't need the front plates in PA, and I am eternally grateful for that. I think it ruins the whole look of any car. Maybe there is a legitimate, rational reason to have them, but I have yet to hear it.

Same thing here, except I keep the front plate on my truck (although its bent under).
Connecticut requires a front plate if your car came from the factory with a front license plate bracket, like most cars now. I have never run a front plate on any of my cars. I have only been bothered once and that was at a DUI check in my Jeep. They were hassling me more than anything, about tinted windows and the front plate. No ticket or warning, they just asked why it wasnt there.

i dont need front plates here in AL, but i have herd of peeps putting them in the windshield and having no problems, also on the air dam to
In Texas your supposed to have front plates also, but here in Houston they don't give you any trouble in the city. Heh half of my family's cars don't have any plates on the front never had any trouble.. But The only time we had trouble was when we were bringing my Rs home From Dallas, It was when a state trooper didnt see the plate on the dash and pulled us over. He almost gave my dad a ticket but we were like we just bought the car 45 minutes earlier. So what we did was showed him the papers transfered and wrote him a warning for no front license plate..
Looks like with all the input it's best without the plate, legally or illegally. I'm stuck in between PA and CT where its legal in both states! My cousin goes to tech school in CT though and you guys can get a ticket for running a YELLOW light?

if i got a ticket for a yellow light i would be in jail because i would have a beat down drag out with the cop
Not sure where u heard its legal to run no front plate in connecticut. If you are issued two plates (which everyone is) you must run both. I got a 90 dollar ticket 2 years ago for not running a front plate. I hear though its not a big problem if its in view in the the front windshield. That gets around the problem of a front plate on our cars looking like poo.
Supposed to have front and back in Iowa.
I have the front on now, but for aobut 8 months I didn't. I was in Kansas though.
Then when I took the car home, I got a ticket for the window tint.
Oh well.
Illinois, i got pulled over when i didnt have it on, i at least had the front plate in my car, this was in my 86 Trans Am, the cop gave me a verbal warning, so the next day, i had to drill holes in my bumper ,so now i have it on
My car was sold new in Ohio so the front was drilled already for the plate mounting brakets. When I bought the car it was in MI (only one plate up there) so the brket was gone but the holes werent. Good thing its getting painted soon so I can finally fill those holes. But for some reason, cops havent seemed to mind my Nova running around town for the last 7 years open header with no front plate....who knows. now I live in KY so no more front plates or emissions for me
FYI: I got ticketed for running a plate up under the windshield, be warned.

Bought my 1987 IROC-Z new in Ohio and never had a front license plate on the car for 19yrs. Had four Ohio tickets over the years and was never cited for the plate. Got nailed by Laser and the Ohio trooper never said anything about the front plate only that the ticket was for 90 MPH.
Now I am in Florida no front plate required or like nothing changed. The BIG thing is not too do anything DUMB that makes the Cop look for additional items to cite you for.

That doesn't work around here unfortunatly. St Charles cops are real picky about having it mounted on the front of the car, not inside the car. You can mount it to the air dam if you want, but it's gotta be on the front of the car. I got pulled over with mine in the windshield and got a ticket. Now I don't display it at all, it sits behind the back seats. I don't even think I have put the current sticker on it that shows when it expires. It's a weekend driver during the summer, so I really don't worry about getting pulled over that much.

i live in california and its not legal to take the plate off so that is why i took the plate off all my cars. i have not had a front plate on my 90 camaro since march 1990 when i drove it off the lot, brought it home and took the plate you bolt the the license too off. no one has ever stopped me about it. the same for my 91, my 96 and my 2001.
no one seems to care, including the cops.
dont run one , dont be a puss. I dont run one and dont get bothered.

I think some MAN is gonna be disappointed by your choice anyways!
You have to have one here in Cali by law. I've gotten a ticket a couple times for it, one of those was specifically for that reason alone. Just depends on who you're dealing with. Its a 'fix it' ticket here, meaning you put the plate on, get it signed off, and pay a fine. What you do after that is up to you. I dont think the fine here goes up for multiples, but they might get mad.
A local guy made a bracket for his GTA that mounts to at least one existing hole under the front bumper and I'm sure is easily taken off if you want to. Might do that instead of using the factory method of destroying (IMO) the front bumper... on a Firebird anyway.

Same "law" here....Just a revenue generator for the state.
As for the mounts you refer to....You mean like the ones I made awhile back, the use 2 of the already existing bottom bolts, for the nose?
I always wondered if there wasn't another reason they aren't telling us ... like .... all that plastic and glass doesn't reflect their radar enough... or something.
