Kinda does suck, but then again, a Camaro chassis probably cheaper overall than getting a new Belair chassis. Like the rest of us, guess he worked with what he had.
Five7Kid may appreciate - doesn't he have a Belair? Then again, maybe we shouldn't give him any ideas
I'm going to say that it's different and obviously well thought out. They did a good job with the transformation and shows the passion of hot rodding. On the flip side to that I agree with destroying what appears to be a perfectly good IROC. If you're going to do something like this I would have used a rolling chassis or parts car instead of one that could be restored. This rates up there with turning a GenIV Camaro into a GenI Camaro.

cool but pointless considering you can buy modified vette frames that are made purposely for the shoeboxes, and would easily ride, and handle better than our thirdgen chassis
Nice idea and execution, lots more 3rd gen solid chassis available than 50's chassis that's for sure. There's nothing wrong with updating a more modern chassis with a classic body. If I had a 50's Nomad I'd do it. Later.
I didn't know it was posted before.A 3rd gen is what about 3 grand or less a art morrison frame bare is about that much.I like the idea but i wouldn't used a unibody but the car looks great done.
I would hope way less - guess it depends on where you're at. Here in NC, I wouldn't pay more than $600 for a 3rd gen that I intended to take only the chassis from - I've had 3 that were running with no major body damage and the most expensive one was $900.
Yeah, I saw this build website a long time ago. He should have done more junkyard digging, before frankensteining a WHOLE IROC. And at the end of the day what does he have? A 56 chevy with a small block and (what the naked eye sees) IROC rims. Just seems like WAAAAAAAY too much work for a very mediocre finished product. That entire IROC body got crushed somewhere....lame idea. If he wanted a Domestic coupe, V8 powered, and awesome modern handling that he could put together himself there are alot of kit cars out there.
The whole basis of Hot Rodding... Why did he do it??? Because he could!!!!! Why not? Some very good fabricating, and when it's all done he's built the car that he wants.... Isn't that what we all do?????

He frankensteined a IROC dude. He took two cars that were already bad @ss and bred them. Issue is he should have used a donor car that maybe didn't have doors, a hatch, a hood, both fenders, taillights, an engine and trans, full interior, etc etc. I can see where this might be hard to wrap around someones head but, don't tell me he couldn't have found a uni body and suspension pieces somewhere. And if he needed a TPI donor all he had to do was lift a rock and look under it to find one of those laying around.
He could have done a lot of things differently.... It would appear he did exactly what he wanted to do with little regard for what others would think or say. For many of us, it's important to build something that is totally unique and doesn't conform to what the style or fad of the week happens to be... Cut up an IROC??? No big deal, lots of them around.
I guess I just don't understand putting a guy down because he built something different and unique using the parts he chose to use... Looks to me like he built a car to suit him without a lot of regard for what others thought about it. One of the best things about being a Hot Rodder is being able to take what you have and build what you want....in a manner that others haven't done....
Eventually people get tired of seeing the same old thing done in the same old way....and building a car totally different from what everyone else builds is just another way around it. Heck, there's probably a bunch of folks on some Tri-Five site somewhere launching the same complaints about how could he do that to a '56 Chevy... My answer would be the same... He built what he wanted to build the way he wanted to build it....

I guess I'll patronize your point. He did what he wanted to and took the risk of getting the Unpopular vote (which Im sure he wins) with Camaro guys. Still, I say, for example, you don't see ppl taking a perfectly fine Nissan Skyline and raping it to pieces to only put the engine and suspension in a old Nissan 240. No, what sensible ppl do, like my friend Tommy, they take a donor Skyline motor and put it in their 240, they dont destroy a perfectly fine sports car just because they feel like welding a red headed step child together on the weekend.
Well, one man's red headed stepchild is another man's pride and joy..... As for the Nissan's, they should all be fed to a crusher!!!!! Imported cars and other such junk are some of the main reasons this country is in such a terrible condition!!!! Sorry, I'm just not much on ricers... They all have way too loud fart cans and wake me up at night!!!!!
I agree with you on the import/domestic thing. As an individual I would not own an import. However, I don't discriminate their drivers. I have friends in Muscle cars, 4x4's, Drag cars, Boats, Imports, Exotics, Bikes, sport trucks, you name it. It's all just a fashion statement. The basic theory behind all of them is a common denominator: performance. And regardless of what anyone says, we all have something to contribute to one another, even if we wouldnt be caught dead in our buddy's car.

Lol...all those guys that are pissed he used an IROC....get over it! It's not like our cars are made of gold. That was a very cool project he did.
I bet most of your cars are not even show quality tuners, so there should not be any resentment towards this guy.
