I was pulled over tonight. Doing 78 in a 65 on the interstate. In the passing lane behind two cars that were going the same speed but saw the cop before me and hit the brakes. I was talking to my girlfriend so I didn't notice the cars hit their brakes. He pulled me over, asked for my insurance and license. I asked what the problem was, he asked me what the speed limit was. I said 65, then he asked how fast I was going, I said "70 something". He's said "uh huh, I'll be right back". As he walked away, I asked in a perfectly calm voice, "are you writing me a ticket." He stopped, looked at me and in a real pissed off voice said, "you got a problem with that", I said "no", he asked again "DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT"? I said no again, then he said, "yes, now I AM going to write you ticket." Went back to his car, wrote the speeding ticket, came back to the window. I asked why he pulled me over when the cars in front of me were going faster. He said they were probably going at least 80 but they "checked" him before he could clock them. And I was going 78. WHAT GIVES?

that is definately not po-po harrassment... po-po aggravation maybe, but he was well within the law pulling you over and writing you a ticket, even if the person in front of you was going faster, he clocked YOU not them. this is why i try not to ask questions when getting pulled over, unless the cop is being really rediculous, But in your case, he wasn't acting too horrible.

Sorry bout your luck, maybe you should invest in a valentine 1 radar detector or something.

Its definetely NOT harassment. The bottom line is you were speeding, and its not your business what the people in front of you were doing, or if they get caught for it.

It sucks, and its happened to me more times than i care to remember. I keep my mouth shut, because even if the five cars in front of me were going faster, i was still wrong.

1. Invest in a good radar detector.
2. Always be nice to the cop, and keep quiet so he forgets you in a few days.
3. Invest in a good lawyer, thats what i do.

Have the lawyer plea the ticket down, thats what mine does. It vosts some coin, but doesnt give you points. Dont try to claim any harassment crap... bottom line is you were speeding, and the judge will laugh you out of the courtroom

I say it isn't harryassment either.
What I did one time, the cop pulled me over for running a red light. The light turned red just as I was under it. When he came back to the car, I said I'm not trying to be rude I just want to know, what is considered running a red light. I'm sure they get a lot of crap and I wanted to make sure he knew I wasn't trying to be a jerk. He was real nice about it.

I mean the part where he asked if I had a problem with it. Like he wanted to fight me or something? He said it twice. And I never said I was going to take it to court. Just asking if anyone else has had a popo ask them if they had a problem. You know what kind of question i'm talking about. Fightin' words... you got a problem with it. It was definitely rude and uncalled for.

Tips to get out of paying a ticket.

1. When your in front of the judge, ask to see the inspection record of the radar gun, If the radar gun had not been calibrated on the the day you were pull over you can use that as a defence to get out of your ticket. A radar gun should be calibrated every 2 or 3 week.

2. When the Pol-Ice ask you DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT? Say "YES" He will ask you why and you can say "THERE WERE TWO OTHER CARS GOING JUST AS FAST AS I WAS WHY DIDN'T YOU PULL THEM OVER TO?" If he gives you a stupid answer you know he has pulled you over to bust your *****.

3. Most traffic stops are taped. If there are tapes of your traffic stop, they will probably show, your car and the others going 80mph, you can point out to the judge that he did not stop the other cars, just yours because it is a sports car.

4. Also use the tape to show that the officer got pissed at you for asking a simple question. this will show the judge that he gave you a ticket out of agravation and the judge may drop or lessen your charge.

Or if you really wanna **** him off, ask him the wrong question..pulled over for speeding? Ask him if it's for peeling out 3 miles back..pulled over for peeling out? ask how fast you were going..it's just..good illogical fun!

The tape won't show that the cop pulled him over just because its a sports car. Bottom line is he broke the law, and the cop can't pull over 4 cars at once. Get a radar detector. I love mine

i had a cop make me get out the car... i had 3 other people in the car was about 1230am which was the monday mornin after easter sunday... not that it matters... i was backin out of a spot at 711 and then turned around to go out the exit.. and i chirped for all of a second.. a lil 2 much gas but i wasnt really tryin to do it.. but anyways.. the cop was right across the street.. and as soon as i made a left on to the road he got me.. as he walked up 2 the car he startin sayin stuff like.. "who the **** do u think u r drivin this piece o **** around liek this... blah blah... get the hell out the car!"

so i did.. now keep in mind in 6'4" and the cop couldn have been anymore than ... 5-6 or so.. so the wwhol time he cursin me out he has to look up at me.. which was hilariousa and im sure pissed him off even more.... so much so that my friends were laughin in the car.. and i had to try real hard not 2 ... he asked me wat i was thinkin.. so i tol him.. i dint try to do it and i dint do it on purpose.. i jus hit the gas lil too much as i shifted to drive.. and chirped.. o well..

he tells me thats bull****.. yada yda.. and he looks at the inspection which had jus expired 30 mins ago .. no joke... i was gonna get inspected nxt day.. he says "this piece o **** isnt even inspected.. i tol him i wooda done it 2day.. but it was easter.. so i was screwed... he told me get back in the car..

i tel u no lie. when i say that he took 45 mins to come back to me.. so im expectin a ****load o tickets... so den numnuts comes back and tells me get back out of the car.. my friends were like holy **** .. ur gonna get arrested.. he started more cursin and bull****.. and i tol him "i dont think u really have to curse at me like this... i made mistake and u got me.. i dint disrespect u and i dont deserve this.. so can i jus have the ticket so i can go back home.."

that shut that ***** up and he gave me a only for inspection...

i thot bout fightin it.. but i was at skool and dint wanna bother.. but that was a complete load of bull****..

cops can b dicks and they can b mad kool.. as did one cop who caught me for 60 in a 30 in my hometown.. he tol me how he had a camaro 2 as a kid and it doenst pay cus i jus gonna **** it up... yadda yadda.. he let me go ..

Yeah I dont know about harrasment, but Him needing drugs, yeah def. I had a cop pull me over my senior year of highschool I was in a line of cars Kzad was in front of me, Jim86 bird was behind me we were doing like 30 and the cop said I was doing 50 in a 25. I was like how can I be doing 50 in a line of cars all of 20 feet from my schools parking lot. Long story short, turned out I new his friend and she went to court with me and he dropped all charges and gave me an apology," Sorry about all this I must have read my gun wrong" Now when I see that bastard he give me a wave.

You were speeding and you got caught--sucks but it's as simple as that so deal with it. Yeah, the cop was a dick--many are. I for one don't like them one bit. Also, if you were not driving too fast for the road conditions at the time, there was really no reason to pull you over except to make $$. However, you did break the law and you have to take the consequences.

How about this one (I swear it is completely true and there are 15 people who can back me up):
Last year (senior year in high school), while my tennis team and I were at a tennis tournament somewhere, we took 3 vehicles, a Suburban, an Excursion, and the coach's wife came in her minivan. They were making a left turn and the arrow went yellow as the Excursion went through, then red as the minivan and Suburban followed (I hate following people). There was a cop at the intersection who saw everything. All 3 vehicles pulled over into a parking lot and all 3 drivers got out. The cop wanted to give the coach's wife and the assistant coach (Suburban driver) tickets for running the light. My coach (a big guy--he played football for TCU in the 80s) got furious. He starts yelling at the cop, "What the @!^* do you think you're doing?" The cop just looks at him for a moment, before he starts explaining the situation and that he's going to give them tickets. My coach yells, "You're not giving my wife a $#@!ing ticket! You're not giving my wife a $#@!ing ticket!" The officer steps back and says, "Sir, get back in your truck." They yell at each other a little more, then the wife starts yelling and swearing at the cop as well. The cop calls for backup, lol, puts one hand on his gun, pulls out his nightstick with the other and says, "Get the @!&$ back in your #$&*ing truck right now." Yelling all the way, my coach walks backwards back to the Excursion as the second cop showed up. The wife got a couple tickets and the assistant coach, silent the entire time, got only a warning from first cop-- the cop said he appreciated the guy's cooperation and let him off.

It was kind of scary, really.

You admitted to breaking the law, something in which he lives his life defending, so you sat there in your sports car and shoved it in his face that you have no respect for his way of life. Granted he shouldn't have gone off the deep end, but he has his reasons. Always say "I don't know" motto for life
