Green, no its a 10:1 355 w/ AFR heads and a built 700r4, I mainly am building it for a street car with the occasional 1320 blast, Im more into hot street cars.

Did you paint your engine bay or did you just clean it up? Also how did you remove the A/C stuff? I want to get mine painted soon and I want everything out so it'll come out good.

Looks real good, did you add the non-air heater box to an air car, or was it originally non-air?

Did you repaint or just clean it up? My car looks like your before picture. I didn't have time to clean it up since I had to do my engine swap over spring break and drive it 540 miles back to school! Not a whole lot of time considering it was my first engine swap....ever.
It doesn't look like you repainted, just looks like a good cleaning.

Looks great. Hard work pays off. Mine looks like before at this point. I have the engine out and will be doing the same thing.
If I can figure out how to post photos I will do the same.

Hehe. I guess you didn't have to worry about the A/C stuff. I didn't realize the condensor wasn't there in the after picture.

3gc, I stripped the engine bay and shot it with R&M single stage with a gloss hardener, the pic doent do it much justice. I also used used POR 15 on the suspension parts. 3gc & blue502, yes it was a b4c car with air, I went to boneyard and got the heater box from a mid 80's TA.

When you took the A/C out did you have to get it evacuated? Or did you remove everything without disconnecting connections? What do you think a good price would be on painting just the engine bay from maroon to black with everything removed?

3GC, I bought the car without a motor or trans so the lines had already been depressurized by someone else. I really dont know about price, but paint cost me $35/quart and reducer around $22/gal, I dont remember the hardener, the hardest part of the whole thing is the removal of the brake booster(1 nut was a @#@%$) and the masking. SPEEDY, It was very time consuming, I took out everything including crossmember, steering box etc. Plus I waited for temp to rise a little too shoot it.

My strut towers are getting rusty (and have a small hole or two in them). Based on what I see in your pics, it proves what I've been saying - "To get my engine bay to look great, the engine must first be removed with everything else."

I somewhat disagree that the engine must come out. Yes it is a lot easier with the engine out. If you are careful and remove as much stuff as you can out of the compartment you can clean up and spot paint the areas that show the most. Black of coarse. This will improve things greatly. This is a street car not a show car. Good luck.

So you have heat but no A/C? Why did you take the A/C out? Is it because you had too, sense you took all the computer mess off?

I built the engine last winter. The headbolts are ARP but when I heat my garage in winter condensation forms, thus the sh..ty bolts. Not much I can do about that.
