:( Sadly another 3rd gen gone...

Well I totaled my 91 z Saturday I was making a turn (from the center turning lane) into a parking lot at 11pm and some fool in a black pick up with NO LIGHTS ON! hits me at 50mph on the front passenger side ( and shes totaled out but the insurance company offered me $4100 and the car back so she will be paid off and I'm goin to part her out.

1991 L98 1LE Z28 5.7 Litre Vette Motor (but diff. cam)
250HP 350FT LBS of Torque
3.23 10 7.5" rear end limited slip rear disc brakes
gray interior
heated hatch
Keeping the wheels, even though no one likes them (on here) everybody i know loves them they r alot!! better looking in real life they r sharp.

Future planes found a Black 91 Z L98 1LE woohoo

BUT STILL...

You know i used to think that cars like camaro's ended up in junk yards because they were driven by a bunch of yahoos that sent em into trees and such at 120mph, come to find out those are only a small percentage, the yahoo's are involved, but not driveing the camaro, they run into em. Sorry about your car, looked sweet from the pic, wheels look nice by the way.

Man, I'm really sorry, that sucks soooooooooooooooo bad man! They only made 175 1LE Z28 5.7's in 1991. So, are you going to try to get another 3rd gen Z28? I have a 1991 Z28 (Black) 5.7 Tuned Port Injection (L98) and if your going to part out your 91....I wouldn't mind buying a couple things if you wouldn't mind. And again....I'm really really sorry and I hope everything works out. Take it easy.

Dang...

That's two I know of on Thirdgen alone (the other was lucky like you in finding a replacement right off the bat). I gather you are okay, which of course is most important.

I think the wheels look good on the car. What are they? I have just about had it with cleaning the "snowflake from he!!" 16s on the Formula...

Peace, sorry to see another nice 3G gone

Ken

A friend of mine is scrapping a tidy looking 85 Z28, when he went to remove the carpet it turned out it was two cars welded together.

the car is being broken and the shell (except for outer pannels) is being crushed (see "a cautionary tale")

that's another gone (well it isn't realy because it was the b*****d child of two dead ones)

i had a few like that

dude,i can empathise with you...a few years back i had a nice,original,70k original miles,NIIICCCEEEE 84 z-28 h.o.
it was a real h.o. too not some fake thing..midnight blue rear disc brakes, the works....anyways,i was going to school one day, stopped for a car turning in front of me....this stupid bieotch was driving behind me putting on her makeup and didnt see me stop..she rear-ended my car at about 50 mph.....same deal...car was totalled, but the insurance did give me a pretty chunk of money and i got to keep the car....it still sucked tho it was my baby!!!
i feel your pain!!!

and about a year ago i bought this turd z-28 from a guy in iowa...at night!!! lol . I figured what the hell it was cheap enough($100) i could bring it back to life cheap enough.....i got it home, jacked it up...and underneath like where your feet go on both sides was torch cut metal, with a gap varying from 1-8"-1-2"...only thing holding the halves of the car togther was angle irons welded on the lower front subframe(s) and some half *** welds on the rocker panels...after removing the carpet and headliner the t-top bar was held on in the back by 4 tack welds(2 on each side)....good thing i only had $100 in it lol...it used to be a gold front end and the rear part was white and i think it was a newer car than the front end..

i hate hack people and bodyshops....if its done really nice thats one thing but seldom does any "rebuilder"get the work done the way it should be done

just my $.02

Talk to me about the complete brake setup. I'm interested in everything needed to convert.

roadpiper@hotmail.com, or reply here, or PM me if you can do it on this site.

Sorry to hear about your ride....

Hey JC83Z, I really hate to see that another Third Gen has gone to the big salvage yard in the sky. Hey, I also notice your from Amarillo, so Hey Dude, glad to know there is some other Third Gen fans here in this area. You wouldnt consider selling the entire car would ya? Let me know, I might be interested in a new project. Maybe with a lot of TLC she could be brought back from the grave . Hope to see ya on the streets in your new ride. See ya then.... Joe

That sucks man. All these thirdgens going down lately makes me scared to drive. 2 days ago I had 3 close calls. A guy in a pickup decided to change lanes without looking and I was right next to him. I swerved and he missed me by inches. Later that night, on a dark road, 2 dear crossed the street 30 feet ahead of me. And then later, there was a tree that fell in the right lane that I almost hit. Thank *** for headlights.

Anyway, do you have the hood blisters for sale? One of my louvers flew off on the highway 2 weeks ago.

84 Z28 L69 HO are very common cars, see them all the time and i had one i got rid of couple weeks back, hardly any of them have original engine still in them still( i check the block suffix stamping codes and look on SPID label and on emissions label under hood), same with any V-8 third gen.... ppl drive them like idiots and blow them up in short order and beat them all up and screw with wiring and paint cuz they're morons
all third gen and anything else around here are usted out bad, holes in floor and in quarters and doors and inside wheel tubs and so forth, the 84 Z28 i have now is just an L84 and has no floor left in front driver side at all and major metal missing inside rear wells lower front and major metal missing all round front shock towers and i plan on going to trouble of putting in a th350 in place of the 700r4 and driving it if it doesnt literally come apart because of the missing floor.
i just got done sending off remains of an 84 SE and i dont know if the 82 T/A wil ever be on road again or not, its got its rust out n rear too. at least the doors only have surface rust ll over lower third only and no holes noticeable really., i just saw an aqua teal type of green camaro earleir in absolute magazine shoot mint shape and it has 82 84 rear lights ?
swear cant be an 82-84, groun effects look all wrong for those years., i missed the nose didnt see it, someone HAD to have swapped rear lights out for older ones... its just too damn nice to be an 82 84, theres no way in hell it can be,,, OR its from AZ or Cali somewhere else where is dry air and nice sheetmetal and paint friendly climate.... or a climate controlled storage...

another one or three or five or seven bite the dust... da da da..

I went to the junk yard yesterday

And whilst I was looking (in vain I might add) for an air snorkle for my TBI, I noticed that the junkyard I was at had almost 30 or more thirdgens. It was depressing at first, I saw a formula 350, a firebird SE, even a 1LE, berlinetta's, IROC's, TA's, you name it. I noticed that the majority of them had been hit from the side or the back.

Anyhow my feelings of depression soon subsided as I passed cars I had parted out once before (I visit this boneyard frequently), and realized that the ashes of fallen Thirdgens give my vehicle vitality. In essence they live on in my IROC. (My IROC is composed of parts from many different cars.. hell even a C5 vette) I love thirdgens...

DAMN DRIVERS! I was hit a week ago as I tried to pull out of a parking lot. Destroyed my entire front end, and it turned out to be my fault somehow. He slid into my left fender as I tried turning left, so I was in his line of traffic. We didn't see each other, so the cop was cool about it, and we worked it out without going through insurance (fortunately the other guy's damage was minor). Anyhow, I was left without a car to tool with or get to work, but I'm well on the way to getting another one with the same engine and trans this week. I can't believe you found another 91 L98 1LE Z28... definitely go for it. You'll be rebuilding and swapping parts all the live long day.
