A group of us are trying to get these gauge overlays made up by a company that has a model development program for new style overlays that haven't been made yet. A number of us have been wanting these, but until now they only make them for 85 or 115mph speedo. The company making these has just lowered their buy in number from 20 people to 10, so here is our chance to make a difference and get something made for our cars with the 145mph speedo. Again, to do this we need 10 people to sign up for these.
If you are interested in getting a set of these cool overlays for your car, please go to the post linked below, read it over, and state that you do want them. Your name will be added to the list.
Here is a link to what the overlays look like. If the link is doesn't work for you, I've posted pics below of the reverse style overlays. The first one is what they look like during the day, the second one is what they look like at night.
We only need one more person to confirm that they WILL buy a set and we can get this going. We should have no problem getting 10 ppl out of over 21,000! Gonna be a total of $78 or so for some kick-a*s gauges for our cars!

Originally posted by 1FastZ I would love to have them but they don't make or have a listing for 86 to 89 camaro's.
Any ideas if they are going to make them for those years?
That's what we are working on. We have to get 10 ppl to say they will buy one, then we can get them to add it to the list. We have a cluster on the way to send them. Alloy should have it by tomorrow (Friday), and then send it out Monday. Once the company gets the cluster, they will put a buy-in spot on the site. I am getting one for my 88 IROC with the 145mph cluster.
Check out the link above, and read the thread. There is some good info there.

Nope, those are the regular ones. We are working on the reverse indiglo gauges. Check out the above linked thread for pics.
The link has been added to the development page. We can now officially sign up for them and get this thing going. The link again is: www.streetracerparts.com/reverse_style.htm
Originally posted by 5SIZ the page isn't loading up for me.
I talked to them and they are having some server problems. Either call in your order or just keep trying the web site. They are working on the problem right now.
I just thought of something, it WILL have the holes for the tripometer right?

We have 3 already. We need 7 more to buy-in and then development will begin!!!
I have already put in my order. Who else has? Sergio? Dan?
Does anyone know what the "touch pad" for and extra $16 is for? I did not order it.
Thomas
I have ordered mine. The touch pad allows you to have various shades of blue and green as opposed to the switch that comes with them that just allows you to have blue or green. I ordered the touch pad just to have the ability to tweak the colors. Plus I had an extra $16 bucks burning a hole in my pocket.
I dont want to sound like a jerk. But i think no one wants to go ahead and order is because no one really knows anything about these gauges or the company that makes them.We have nothing to base the quality off of.Im not tryin to start anything but i kind of think thats what a lot of us are thinkin........
I put my order in about 11am yesterday. I also ordered the touch pad just because. I figured that if I wanted it later, I'd pay another $8 for shipping, so just got it now to save on shiping costs, and to have more "gadgets" to play with!
You know a man has to have his toys!! The old saying is true,
Well not trying to argue with you, but we already have someone on TGO that has direct experience with the products form this company.
Here is a direct quote from "the_prostitute" in another thread in this fourm. So if you have any questions about the quality of the product, pm the_prostitute and ask him about them.
"Its only $69.99, thats not bad for the product they are selling and I know they do a good job because one of my friends has gotten reverse style gauges from them for a different model car".
Also, if you look at the companies web site, you will see that they make many, many different overlays for different cars, trucks, and motorcycles. From my point of view as a small business man in the manufacturing business, it would be difficult for me to believe they are still in business with so many different products if they didn't put out a good quality part.
And this is what comes normally. Personally, I think the analog switch here would look much nicer in a third-gen than the digital pad, so I stuck with it. But to each their own!
They are a bit dim, though I'm not entirely sure if our needles are backlit or not. In the Advanced link on that site, you can see what they did to get around that problem. It may take a bit of work, but I think they look great once completed.
Al lof the needles on these type of guages I've see are white. If you follow the link that CaysE left, the very last pic on the last page shows how well the white needles show up with these overlays.
CaysE, That was a great find! Thanks for linking to it.

CaysE, That was a great find! Thanks for linking to it.
in the last pic he quoted on how it is difficult to see the needles since they are not back lit.
However he figured out a way to make the needles back lit!!
that tech is on the last page on the very bottom.
looks like I'll probably be the last one ot sign on
That doesn't seem that hard to do with the gauge needles. The UV light is the same one I'm using in my pickup to iluminate my white face stick on overlays I made up. Peace of cake to do this! The lights are around $16 as I recall.
I'm going to go aheand and do exactly what this guy did. The glowing orange needles look so cool why not do it while the cluster is out? Maybe one of us can do a tech article on this.
Hey, it doesn't matter who is the last to sign up, just so everyone does sign up!
By the way, I wanted CWracing to know before I told anyone else, but he now knows and I wanted to tell everyone that the sample cluster arrived yesterday. It arrived too late for me to go to UPS to ship it the same day, but it's in fantastic condition and I will ship on Monday to the company making the overlays.
sounds good, i really want to figur eout how to illuminate the needles that way I can do it all when I pull out the gauge cluster, is it hard to pull out our gauge clusters since they have a mechanical speedo? I've tried to pull out my speedo gauge once and I couldn't for the life of me.
Well I haven't pulled mine out yet, but hopefully 10 of us working on it at the same time, maybe we can also include some instructions on how to pull the cluster to install the overlays.
It has to come out somehow, and if it does I will get it out!
Right now I'm working on replacing my fan switch on the right side of my engine just underneath the stock exhaust manifold. To say the least, it's a mutha! If I can get this done, the cluster couldn't be much worse.
Here is a pic of the needles after the guy writting the article finished. Admittedly the pic isn't great, but it's easy to see how good the needles look done this way.
Let's go guys!! I thought we had 10 people on this thread ready to go... where are you? Time to kick *** and take names. Post here if you're on the buy-in already:
I'll give approximately 12 hours for others who have signed up to post here or PM me before I start bothering people on the other list.
Admin, if you read this msg, can you please change the topic to "86-89 145mph REVERSE INDIGLO overlays." Alloy, can you see if the link on the buy-in page is a typo? It says 1982-1989. As far as I know, 145mph speedos with tach are only 1986-1989.
I'm not sure why they put 82 through 89. When they asked, I specifically told them that these fit 86 to 89 only, and that the later 145 speedo can be retro-fitted into the older years, but the older years ddin't come with the 145 cluster.
So, not sure why they did that. All of us here know what years they fit, so if we can just get these into production we can worry about that typo later.
Ok, here is the list from the other thread. Now we can see who wanted a set, and who bought in. I will update the list as I find out who has bought in.
I shipped the sample cluster out today. It should be there by the end of this week. When I get my quantum email shipper notices from UPS tonight, I'll update this with the confirmed delivery date.
Just 3 more I beleive! It's hard to tell from the sign up page. I think it's manually updated every few days. Hopefully it will reflect the recent buy ins soon and give us an accurite count.
With desert86roc's buy in we only need 3 more and we know 5SIZ is in on Friday, so we really only need 2 more. Almost there. Where are the other guys at?
