Anybody tried dyeing seatbelts?
Has anyone ever tried dyeing seatbelts to a different color? Mine are light gray/blue and I want either black or dark gray to match my new seats. I hate to buy new seatbelts because mine are in great condition, but if this isn't feasible, I will.

I haven't ever died a seatbelt, but i have painted them. A while back I had a customer with an 86 or so Z28 that had a broken seatbelt and the seatbelt with that color had been discontinued. I used paint that was made for fabric and was designed to flex, etc. It was impossible to tell that they were painted and they are still holding up fine now. Hope this helps.

I did use this paint-on stuff once (Molecubond, Pep Boys used to carry it) to brighten up some faded black belts in a convertible I was selling...it worked, and they looked ok, but the black would come off, at least a little. Too much for a white shirt at least!

i tried dying with RIT dye. didnt work at all! so i painted them with regular Latex Enamel Paint from a can. Worked well. They were red, i painted them black. they were stiff at first, but then they softened up. Sometimes you dont care that its ALL original or not; sometimes you just want it to look good.
