Lamborghini Doors

I saw them on an 02 RamAir T/A. THEY LOOKED AWESOME! The guy told me they were bolt on and it took him about 1/2 hour to install them with his friend there to hold the door in place while he bolted it in.

I was able to find a really good kit that is guaranteed to fit ANY vehicle, but it must be welded in place. Has anyone seen 3rd gen door hinges? Know any companies making them? Post it here!

I've seen it done to a 3rd gen bird and a mid 80's vette. the vette looks sweet with them, but the bird doesn't.

I want a bolt on kit. I forgot where he got his, but I checked the site he told me and they dont have 3rd gen kits.

Neither of those sites were correct, and I couldn't locate "camaroism"

Heres what a 4th gen looks like with the weld on kit i found...

forget about the doors, excellent signature!

autoloc caries what you need. starting around $1,400 for the bolt in and $2,000 for the automatic.

If they were cheaper I'd definitely get it. Better than begging my passenger to pay attention that the door is like 4 feet long.

buy a kit, copy it and duplicate it to the masses for even half the price. i thought about it until i saw it upclose on a 92 rs and it just didn't flow well. someone else will eventually do that and make a killing though.

hmmm.

Spending $1400 on a doo rkit will save me money in the long run! My GF has a problem with opening before lookng. My last camaro went thru 3 pass door skirts and 5 repaints in 2 years! Good thing I can paint, lol

PS Kandied- I was the guy who emailed you the other day about the rims you had on your car.

exactly what was bad about it jeff? I would have done this to my car a long time ago, but was under the impression that our doors were too heavy to be supported (shocks would wear out too quick)......that and wondering how well it would work with door poppers....hmmm

Im pretty sure you could locate some fiberglass doors somewhere, but then it becomes more of an expense than a novelty

that and i wouldn't trade safety for novelty. I guess fiberglass doors would be ok as long as they have an impact bar like the stock doors

i want to do this to my car, i think with the way my car looks i could pull it off , and even if everyone didnt like i still would , i think its awesome as hell and would make it easier to get out of the car in the garage when i cant open the door up all the way now . I think it would be sweet as hell.

I've always liked the Lambo doors, but I had the idea of doing more of a gullwing type. I have t-tops, so I figured I could just strengthen the middle of the roof, and put the hinges there. However, I had planned on Fiberglass doors, because I figured that I couldn't strengthen the center roof and get hinges strong enough to lift and support the weight of our large doors. Plus, these plans were far in the future.

well our doors are heavy but that's why it would take at least 2 struts and yes if you used them alot just like your hatch or hood eventually they would wear out. just keep your reciept as most are warrantied. as far as door poppers. why would it be any different. the door swings half way out before you have to lift up so you can get out normally also. that is unless your one of those people that has to have the door fully opened. i can't remember the last time i fully opened one of the doors on the last car.

well seeing how I havent made any progress to getting my doors open from their 'jammed stuck' state, this may be a project for me to tackle now (seeing how I think I may have to take my doors off at this point to solve the problem anyhow)

looking at autolocs site, it would look like you would need the uni kit +2 more struts, for the extra support? Question is, where would you mount the other strut.....also wondering if this kit would work out well...with minor modification if any....gonna have to start asking around

I don't think it would need an extra strut

they should already have a spring mechanism helping out the existing strut and i've seen those kits on cars with equally massive doors (mid eighties grand prix's and monte carlos)

How much are the power actuators? Around $300 each I'm guessing?

I'm pretty sure doors don't have any kind of a sexual preference, but I might be wrong.

You seriously need to shut up. I've been reading all the posts from the last day on the Body and Interior and Appearance boards, and you really haven't said anything constructive.

Lambo doors have come up a bunch before... just search.

Basically, the reason nobody has done this is because the amount of fab work needed for this to work correctly is cost preventative. The doors need to not only swing up, but swing out as well so it's not so hard to get in and out. Also, consider the space in your garage for how high those doors are going to swing up.

if you haven't learned by now nothing is bolt on for our cars. the old saying of nothing worth doing is easy shouldn't have to be that way though when your paying $1,000+ for $50 in metal.

its not hard gettin them to swing out..cause they open like a normal door..it has still its first half open spot then a full open but at the first push open you can slide it up...my sis has them on her cavalier..and her b/f had to grind abit of the bract down so that the bar could slide down alil farther so the door could line up
kinda complicated to explain
but all in all there sweet

this is starting to remind me of any college party Ive ever been too....lets keep the politics out of this, I thought we were talking about lambo doors......the whole point to these are to attract attention...why else would you spend 1000+ to have your doors open another way. As for it being a gay idea, Im glad you have your opinion and you're entitled to it....but just because I slap lambo doors on my car doesnt mean Im 'being like imports'.....if it did mean that, I guess I'd have to scrap my 18" rims, falken tires, gfx, clear side markers, stereo system, and anything else that you may find in an import....geez

My logical reason for getting these doors is that the doors are so low, they kiss the curb every time they are opened, I'm fed up with doing body work. Also, camaro doors are so long, it makes more sense to make them "lambo" style for parking it in the garage.

Anyone know manucaturers of fiberglass doors for 3rd gens that have an impact bar?

I think the heavier parts are going to be the glass and the frame. The skin is probably the least of your worries.

if you havent gotten those latches open yet, i think your already in over your head, maybe you should leave the lambo doors alone, no offense

i remember seeing the autoloc suicide door kit, on monster garage once.. they junked it and made there own instead..
are those kits any good?

how short is your garage?

still seems like a good idea to me

I want to do this really bad guys, I think it would be great on a thirdgen.

Isn't it already pretty hard messing with the door hinges on our cars though? I remember looking at them the other day to tackle alignment issues and they are welded on, not bolted. (one more little thing to make it a bigger pain in the butt)

I wouldn't mind drilling the hinges off, but no way in hell do I want to have to weld them back up and HAVE to get them perfectly straight the first time... And I don't want to swiss cheese the door frame with trial and error methods either.

This seems like it's going to be tough for the first few who get it going... But SOMEONE has to start it.

i remember seeing the autoloc suicide door kit, on monster garage once.. they junked it and made there own instead..
are those kits any good?

I dont see how Im 'in over my head', as the doors being stuck is something I couldnt prevent.....it has no bearing on the shaved handles either, and Ive since taken every component of that out (to ensure they werent the problem).....chalk it up to saggin hinges and mis-alignment.....what else could it be? So if I have to take my doors off anyways, why not replace my hinges and go with this kit at the same time? (and just to enlighten you more, everything was professionaly installed and worked fine for over half a year with no problems)

....and where did someone see autoloc's kit starting at 1400, Im seeing the base model for 1899

I'd put them on my vert if I knew they withstood daily driver status.

Does anyone have any frontal or rear shots to show how far they stuff out? Or hell, a close up of the hinges mechanism?

the doors do look kinda out of place fully extended like that, but Im wondering if there needed to be some grinding done so the door would clear the fender (the 93-02 kit says it needs to be done)

You would be pretty stupid to mess your car up and put this kit on it. I know some1 with a s2000 put them on and he hates them. He brung it over one day and you cant open the door all the way plus you almost have to aim to shut it. Just makes the car seem really junky and un professional. Then you have to make sure every one follows directions and opens your doors the right way or you have a heart attack and lash out at them.
