Breaking headlight brackets?
I recently rebuilt my headlight motors. And am real pleased with the results. Only problem I had was the driver side was lower than the front bumper(its a 91). So, I took it apart, again, a few weeks ago, and moved the gear up 3 teeth. It was dead on. I was so proud, till I noticed the next day, that the headlight bracket was broken. I bought a used one from a friend, and it has been welded, in the exact same place. I am using it for now, but plan on getting another. My question is, is it to tight? Will I break another one if I dont take the motor apart for the 4th time, to re-align it? Im getting tired of these motors, and am looking for an alternative, but I just want them to line up. I have adjusted the crap out of it, and cant get it to align properly. I am figuring it is the weld. But I am not spending money on a new one, only to break it.

You don't HAVE to adjust the bracket for up/down level. It's a power load stop on it. Lower it down and see where the stop hits (should be obvious). Open it back up and epoxy small spacers on the stop to get the level you want. Lower it back down and let the epoxy harden.
It will automatically stop there the next time it goes down.
