Any pics of clean "Dark Red Metallic/Flame Red" paint job?
I am getting ready for a repaint and I'm not sure if I want to go with the original dark red metallic or use something else. I would like to see a clean version of this color because mine was too faded to make a decision.
I have a 1989 Iroc/L98/4 wheel discs/t-tops/84,000 original miles
My painter would like to see me stay in the red family, any pics or paint color suggestions would be helpful and appreciated ... PEACE!

Re: Any pics of clean "Dark Red Metallic/Flame Red" paint job?
my 91 was dark metallic red... sounds like your painter either doesn't want to do the work a color change requires or they are trying to save you money. i have some older shots of what mine looked like on my car domain page you can see in my signature..
personally it's a nice factory color but dull in comparison to what one can do with aftermarket paint. i would have no doubt owning a low mileage original one but i would never do a complete repaint in the color as there are way to many other nicer reds out there.

I am not much of a body guy, but from what I understand this is PPG's take on the factory color, with some pearl and couple layers of clear. Also the entire car was epoxy coated before it was sprayed. I am a big fan of blacks and grays, but after my painter showed me this sample, I was sold. I just added black accents. I miss the ZX12 I traded along with a couple grand, but good paint makes a car, and it doesn't chip as easy.
Thanks for the compliments!

It's amazing that you see the old faded cars of 18 years all day. They are either advertised as light maroon, dark maroon, etc., etc., .. People generalyy do not appreciate the color, obviously they don't know what the true color is.
I appreciate the true restored examples of what the color is supposed to look like. If more people would actualyy see what the color is supposed to look like, there would more than likely be more fans for this color. An 18 year old representation of a faded clear coat does not do this color justice.
Kudos for all the pics guys. My car just came out of the booth a few days ago and my painter has already started color coating and buffing, polishing, ect. and the finish is absolutely amazing..
Keep on keepin on with the sexy pics, I will be posting some in the next few days. BTW. I beilieve the color code is WA9535...

If I dont mind saying so myself this is a great color but tends to change shades depending on the amount of light.
