Rear hatch pulldown wiring issue
Just replaced my pulldown with one in much better shape (bought from ebay). The wiring is confusing, I think I may be missing something. There is an orange wire ( part of harness from front of car 12V) paired to a connector with a white wire that goes to another connector (paired) with a black wire, only there is nothing to connect them to (on either the old or new pulldown).

I could use a little more detail in the description of the connector(s), like the number and position of the prongs. But from what you're giving so far, I think you may be looking at the extend relay connector. Unfortunately, the wiring diagram I have is for a 92 Camaro, and GM redesigned the hatch pull down in 91-92, so your wiring may not be the same as mine. The reason why it may still be the relay connector--notwithstanding differences in wiring--is that you can find nothing to connect it to on the unit itself. The connector simply mates to a Bosch relay, which is rectangular in shape and about 1" long by 1/2" wide. There is therefore no matching connector on the pulldown unit.

Re: Rear hatch pulldown wiring issue
There is a relay there with all its wiring intact. The connector with the orange and white wire is rectangular as it the one with the black wire (a ground) and the white one (it goes between both connectors). They are both female. There is also a white wire on a single connector (small) that comes from the relay. It is square on one corner and rounded on the other. There is also a blue wire from the relay with the same connector. A wire from the harness runs with the orange wire (can't remember the color, I think red with white) has a female connector that matches the blue and white wire connectors. I have a factory service manual, but it is very vague on this circuit. Thanks for the help!

Re: Rear hatch pulldown wiring issue
Thanks Kevin,
I'm not in any hurry. I removed some insulation off the brown wire from the relay and put 12V to it. This activated the motor and pulled the hatch shut. Robert
