could the harwood pro touring hood be functional
Just a simple question, partly out of curiosity and partly for a buddy running a single plane 4bbl TB setup.
I know that for a hood scoop to be functional it has to be far enough towards the leading edge of the hood for any air to actually enter it, otherwise it just circles over and comes back down the glass.
If opened up could this scoop be functional or is the opening too far back?

i guess its not really a simple question, considering it pretty much requires an engineering degree to answer. Harwood can claim what they like, does anyone with a scientific understanding have an opinion on whether this will actually function?

I actually do have an engineering degree, just don't have access to a wind tunnel.

Just like a cowl hood it will allow more cooler air to be pulled in from outside. Some air will be forced through the scoop, maybe not as much as the more forward scoops. Even so the "ram" effect is not going to give you more power, unless you plan on driving around at 150 mph all the time. I'm interested to see if this hood could be used with the air box for the RAII hood. It looks like it will be close.
