Axle/Gears: 3.08
Molding
I am in the process of painting my car, doing all the prep.
I need to remove the molding/trim on the side of the car, how do I remove that?

The "door ding" molding is usually held on with two sided tape. The fast easy way is to buy a tool that goes into an air hammer and has a plastic like material on the end (should be called a molding remover or something like that) and start on one end of the molding and work it till the end. Whole car will be done in the matter of a minute.

The ones in the link I posted are steel, I have never used steel but it will work fine. All the ones I have are a plastic like material which I would think are less likley to scratch paint, however a majority of the time you are removing the molding in order to repaint. In any event, the link should give you an idea of the concept you are trying to do.

If you dont want to spend the money for that tool I just took mine off last week with a heat gun and a scraper. I tried not to scratch the paint but it didnt really matter because im painting my car too. good luck on the paint job.

yeah didn't know if he had a heat gun available and that tool sounded kinda expensive didn't mean to step on your toes

Get some string and get under the leading edge, carefully pull it away from the car. Once you can get your hands on it, pull gently. To remove the majority of teh adhesive, get ahold of it at one end and pull it along the body. If you try pulling it at a 90* to the body, it will just rip and will take all day. Pull it at about 5* - 15* slowly. It's like those 3M wall hangers that they advertise. Pull it with the body slowly and it will pull away from the car. If there is any residue left, adhesive remover will take it off.
