No longer available at the dealer.

Alot of us tight@ss folks settle for basic $20 Blazer brand fogs from Wally World.

Yes they are! Just found S.O.Part # 5974579 and 5974580

I was quoted 188.00 per side. Ebay guy selling them is even cheaper. Can someone who has connections beat this?

My bad - thought they were gone.

I put your part numbers into GMpartsdirect.com and got $113 for 79 and $109 for 80.

That's cheaper than ebay!

Re: New 3rd gen GM fog lights!

has anybody ever figured out why these are so expensive? Also aren't the wal mart ones pretty much identical?

Expensive because they have been out of production for probably 15 years now. If you can find a set for a good price, go for it. They are glass lensed where as the cheap ones like on my s10 xtreme are plastic. The iroc fog lights were really nice pieces, and I paid about 200 for my new set 5 years ago.

Re: New 3rd gen GM fog lights!

One reason OEM fog lights are desirable is because they're easily adjustable to aim them with a screwdriver. I added a pair of aftermarket driving lights to my '83 Z28 years ago and they were a real PITA to adjust because I had to loosen the mounting nuts each time and it was a hit-and-miss proposition. When one of the fog lights on my '85 IROC got cracked, I taped it up with clear tape and trolled eBay for about a year until I found a used replacement for about $40. I don't think you'll find one that cheap today. However, if you're doing a money-no-object restoration, those bandits who have hoarded NOS parts have you by the gonads.

The price for both fog lights through GMPartsdirect.com is $274.57 shipped, you have to add the part numbers to your cart then click submit cart to get your total. The shipping on the items you buy from that site is where they rape you sometimes.

Re: New 3rd gen GM fog lights!

IROC foglights are still available new from GM, I bought a set last year from the dealer. They hadn't been on the shelf for years either, they just ordered them in. They are made in taiwan now though, and the park lights are now made in china. That's a bunch of crap, but at least they do still make them.

Re: New 3rd gen GM fog lights!

Made in Taiwan? Wow! Then they ought to be selling them for half what they sold for originally, not double.

Yeah, crazy isn't it. I wonder how much it cost them to send the existing tooling overseas.

Re: New 3rd gen GM fog lights!

Well after looking at ebay, gmpartsdirect, I went to wallymart and bought a great set for...$18.98! Not the blazer brand either.

I had to mod the bracket and drill just one holeto install but they look great! And they are SUPER bright! $20.00 total with the connectors.

I will never go back to stock after i tried these at night

Re: New 3rd gen GM fog lights!

No way in the world I'd pay that much for fogs even if I was made of money. I bought the blazer ones from Walmart, I like em 100x better than the stock ones. They are way brighter since the lens is clear plus they look stock unlike some of the blue lens aftermarket lights.

It's hardly new, I've been running around with these lights for years. I bought them new from GM for about ~$50/pc, IIRC. But that was when I worked for a stealership. I think they're about $90/pc now?

I don't really have a close up shot of them. I just trimmed the top of the factory bracket and bolted them directly to the metal bumper bar. They'd look a lot better if the front turn signals were as shiny...

Re: New 3rd gen GM fog lights!

Thanks the curvature of the front bumper opening is almost perfectly matched the curvature of the foglamp lense so these would really only work well on a 91-92 bird. They might look a bit out of place on a camaro I'd think.

Mine? No. Factory they came with I believe an 880 bulb which is only a 27watt I think? I put an 894 bulb in which uses the same base but is 37watt. Although the cutoff on the projector is beautiful. I've though about a cheap ddm tuning hid to play with and see if there is too much glare.
