Drivers side mirror cable is bad...is repair possible?

Car: 84 Firebird, 78 Trans Am
Engine: LG4 305 Qjet, Pontiac 400cid
Transmission: T5 Non WC, TH350
Axle/Gears: All stock
Drivers side mirror cable is bad...is repair possible?
The adjustment lever moves, but the mirror doesn't. I tried inserting folded index cards (ghetto) to shim the mirror, but it didn't work, of course.
Is there any way to repair the cable, or do I need an entire new unit?
Anyone selling theirs?
