targa top back to hardtop?
i've found a car i really really want...very rare 82 t/a...but, it has one of those flimsy 80's targa roofs and god knows why anybody would do that....how hard would it be to put it back to it's original hardtop?
possible ?
expensive?
thx

Sounds to me like you need the rear glass hatch? You could probably find one at a good salvage yard. I never put one on a car. I know the thing is real heavy just from changing strut arms and holding it up. The hardest part would be getting it lined up properly and adjusting it.

Re: targa top back to hardtop?
I'm assuming you mean T-Top? because most people would kill for a targa top.
Its not worth it in most cases to go from t-top to hardtop, being the general consensus. Easier to sell the t-top and buy a factory hardtop. Probably cost less as well if you value your own time if you're doing it.

Re: targa top back to hardtop?
i think somebody changed the hard top to a targa top..it's not a hard targa top, it's soft....i want to go back to a plain old hard top...not t tops...just wondering if it's possible without breaking the bank
it's a low production mecum car ...it was originally a hard top..
thx

Re: targa top back to hardtop?
cuz its rare.... yes you can swap tops its hard but not too hard, easiest way is at the spot welds on cowl to a piller and the factory back seam, its def worth it for a rare car like that, i dont know how much itd be, prolly 2k ish idk tho for sure

I've never seen a third gen with a targa, got a picture?
I agree with Darth though. That's a rare car, don't ruin it by making just another plain old hardtop...

That's sweet dude. Not crazy about that hood, but the targa top is NICE!
I wonder why new cars don't come with t/targa tops anymore. IMO they're much better than verts..

Re: targa top back to hardtop?
New corvetts still come with a Targa roof and I believe certain Ferrari models do too...Ive wondered why the new Mustangs and Camaro's dont offer a targa as an option. I guess they want people buying a vert if they want sun and wind.
I would never own a third gen without them! I frickin LOVE driving around in the summer with the t-tops off, sunglasses on and the tunes cranked...Nothing better other than being in a boat doing 70+ with big blocks roaring away!!
