T Top Weatherstrips

We'll my 83 TA almost done with a complete paint job, I'm ready to purchase
new T Top and door weatherstrip. I have done hours of research and still
can not make up my mind what to purchase or were to purchase.
Can anyone give me one more opinion, I know to stay away from OER.
Money is no object, I want it done right and want it to last.
What should I do. I will post pics soon!!!
Thanks
Al

You could buy the GM Replacements if money is no problem,if I had the money when I replaced mine,I would have went that way.Not that I'm having any problems with mine, but that's what I would have done.

So that's the original GM kinda pricy, if they fit better and easier to install I
guess I will buy them but I'm going to need the whole kit.
Thanks

If I had to do it again I would use the Soffseal I used on my car. They are nice and thick, fit well and seal as good or better then the originals. Since they are a little thicker, expect to adjust side windows to fit the seals, but I personally feel that since they are a tad bit thicker then GM, they seal better.
You can't go wrong with any of the seals except OER. Stay away from those. Remember - most of the issues arise from improper installation so do your research before installing.

I would go with either soffseal or metro..both are pretty equal in quality, durability and reliability(meaning they aren't going to crack and fall apart) even if I had extra money I would pick either of them over original gm latex seals..

What's OER?

I just had my shop replace one side of mine with GM T-top weatherstripping and it's still leaking!

I guess they just need to re-do it on Monday.

Re: T Top Weatherstrips

OER is junk. They are a company making many repro items for classics. Some of it is OK but the weatherstrip for third gens is garbage, People think they are getting OEM original because of the name but it is a repop. They are licensed by GM to use their name but obviously GM does not care about the quality they are licensing their name to. If it comes in a yellow box it is OER and not original.
If you have original GM seals and they are leaking then they were installed wrong. That is what gives some of the repros like Soffseal and Metro a bad name. People install them wrong and blame the seal instead of the install.

Re: T Top Weatherstrips

Well, I recommend against whatever it was that I got from ThePartsPlaceinc.com I bought the t-top kit, and the weather stripping is WAY too thick. It was so thick that I had to actually cut it down to get my t-top back on. It's sealed for sure, but looks like *** so when the summer comes I need to find a different brand and redo it.
