Ok has anyone used tiger hair body filler??? I have been told its thw only way to go. I am also looking at doing a duplicolor or summit racing paint I hace never painted before but always wanted to try it. Also should I go singke stage or bc cc I wanna shoot black with a thickish metallic flake in it. Any input well appreciated

Tiger hair is fiber reinforced filler. It's great for filling large dents so the filler won't crack. However, ideally you should not have voids big enough for it after the metal has been straightened. If you do need to use it, you will also need regular filler (such as evercoat rage) to lay on top for a final surface.
If you are using a lot of filler, you will want a surfacing/ sealing layer after your primer.

If you are going metallic, you will want to do base/clear
I think bc/cc is always best, gives you more ability to fix mistakes and looks good longer.

Best advice for any new painter: PRACTICE
I know it hurts to waste expensive paint, but there's no substitute for practice with the gun. Try lots of different settings.

So what is a good filler for small dents just because I know bondo is supposed to be a horrible brand for body filler and evercoat is supposed to be the best

Evercoat is what shops use. For small dents you can you glaze. Your supposed to use glaze over evercoat rage it helps with the pinholes. Also finish rage with 80 and glaze with 180.to sand scratches shrinking in your paint sand the glaze with 320 and surrounding area before primer

ok thanks guys if you cant tell I am pretty green with body work my freinds dad is helping me but he is a little rusty lol
so if i lay resin with fiber hair mat would I want to go over with tiger hair to fill big imperfections from sanding. then go over with rage and the glaze spot putty for pinholes correct? or can I just go over with rage and then glaze spot putty. prime with a black filler primer then block with 120 prime with grey self etching block with 220 to see highs and lows and then will them and fix and then prime again with a finish primer? correct?

It all depends on how thick the filler will be when you are done with the fiberglass resin and mat and you only need a 1/4 inch layer of filler then you could go with the evercoat rage filler then putty and primer if you need more then a 1/4 inch then you would need the kitty hair then filler putty and primer

My method: Self etching primer is primarily intended for bare metal. Further, it is not normally intended to be sanded. The proper sequence would be to spray bare metal with the etch followed by filler(aka polyester) primer, block it, primer with regular urethane primer, use cheap flat black rattle can paint for highs and lows, block as needed, reprime again with urethane primer as needed, block it again.

Also how hard is it to shoot a pearl white ?

Pearl white is done in two layers- solid white, then transparent metallic over the top. Its harder than most colors to spray and count on spraying 2-3 times more basecoat than most other colors

decided on a paint scheme i am gonna do the 25th anniversary paint from the 94 t/a I am gonna put a ice pearl in the white and I am gonna paint the blue stripe on instead gonna try my hand at a blue ice pearl also. any tips much appreciated guys

Than you REALLY better practice. Pearls are good at showing all your mistakes.
Most people would choose more forgiving paint for their first try. Red is always most forgiving, plain white is pretty easy too. Multi layer pearl? Expect a lot of striping at least.
Not saying you can't do it, but either be prepared for it to look amateurish or spend a lot of tine and paint on practice panels.

ok thanks for the tip I probobly wont shoot pearl due to the cost and me being on a budget but that is what i really wanna have on her

they make a stuff called guidecoat to help you find your highs and lows. Cheap cans of spray paint will normally clog your sand paper and be quite a pain. i would second stay away from pearls if you do spray a pearl make sure you spray it really even! I use evercoat products and I think they are really good.

Ok who makes the guide coat im assuming it's like a primer? But just a diffrent color than the one you later the first time?

You can get guide coat in a rattle can or dry I like the dry because you won't have overspray works great and it don't clog up your sandpaper Edit. 3M makes the best to me
