Door bushing grease inserts worth it?

I just purchased a 92 camaro. It has the typical door sage. I’ve done pins and bushings in the past. My question is are the greasable worth the added cost? Anyone with experience using them?

$15 vs $100 on hawks. Big difference hard to see that being worth it tho.

I’ve tried google and the search feature and haven’t gotten a straight answer.

TDS might haqve them for cheaper..>I forget the prices, but the products they sell / make are always top notch.

I recall reading that they prolong the life substantially over the non geaseable units.

Re: Door bushing grease inserts worth it?

I’m mostly wondering lifespan, instal and ease of use. Not sure how long they typically last. I had a 91 back in the day and had to replace them at 5 years old. Not sure how they were take. Care of tho. If the grease type last longer then I’m for it. I don’t get paid to work on my own cars.

thank you for your reply.

I have a 89 formula 350 w ttops and purchased it a couple yrs old with no sag. I quickly put subframe connectors on it and have aways oiled the hinges/spring wheel with used motor oil from each oil change. 250k miles and the doors shut like new with original hinges.

That’s a great lifespan. Good maintenance matters. Really good info. Thank you

Re: Door bushing grease inserts worth it?

I think it's typically a good assumption that most moving parts will last longer when lubed up for less friction. ...that being said, HOW MUCH longer would be the question. I've heard people say that "our" doors are known to sag, but the newest thirdgen is 30 years old at this point. Is it really fair to say they don't last? You could argue that in fact they really DO LAST! Anyhow, I've done new hinges on both of last two IROCs, and I know it's not really a fun fix. That being said, unless you're daily driving your car, and plan to do so for 100,000 miles, I personally don't feel upgraded grease-able hinge/pin kits are necessary. ...and I've always lubed my hinges in a similar fashion to what TTOP350 said, though I've always used white lithium.
