13" rotors and 4-piston calipers in stock 16" wheels

13" rotors and 4-piston calipers in stock 16" wheels

We found an option for big brakes on a 1987 IROC.
These brakes will clear the stock 16" IROC rims.

Wilwood Forged Superlite calipers.

BMW 750 / 850 rotors. ( 324mm X 30mm ) Almost identicalto C5 Corvette rotors ( 324mm X 32mm ).





The rotor has to be modified to clear the adapter bolts.

This isn't exactly news. Both Ed Miller, and Spohn sell a 13" kit, that uses the Wilwood FBS caliper, that fits stock IROC wheels. Ed also sells at 12.2" kit that clears GTA wheels.

The rotor and vanes were milled off to a sharp 90* angle and will have severe cracking stress there under heat and load- Kind of scary. They should have been milled at a radius.

We tested with a stock IROC wheel too, but I don't have any picture. The BMW has a brake pad that is very large radially. With the Wilwood caliper the inner part of the rotor surface is not used.

The stock bolt pattern is 5x4.75" = 5x120.65mm. BMW uses 5x120mm. It is almost identical. The rotor works fine with the stock bolt pattern.

Milling at a radius is not a problem.

13" 6-piston wilwoods under a 16" factory IROC rim with aluminum hubs to boot.

Hey there Dean, I was wondering where you went.

The BWM rotor pattern is close enough to work, it's the stud spacing in the hub that needs to be dead on. This is close to what I want to do with GTO rotors. The added height of the rotor will eliminate any need for a spacer and a Wilwood caliper.

Nice work, thanks for the post. Oh yeah...is that a standard or 1LE hub?

Yes, the BMW rotor has a lot of 'backspace' and that will get the caliper away from the spokes on the rim. The 'backspace' is 70mm on those.

I don't know the Camaro option list.
It is a 1987 IROC with drum brakes on the rear. The stock front rotors are 265mm in diameter.


The IROC is a friends car but I am doing the same on my 1984 Corvette.

My stock 290mm x 20mm and the BMW 324mm x 30mm.

You can not use them because you have to remove a part of the inner rotor surface with a lathe.

so i saw the z06 ones, they look bad. I am thinking of doing alot to my car but, thinking is one thing and doing is another. lol. I want to put the z06 kit on the front but im still learning and still broke..............
