those with Line Lock
I was wondering if somebody here who has a line lock can test to see if it will keep the front brakes engaged after the car is turned off if the switch was left on. I am waiting for ed's ls1 swap emergency brake cables to get finished and don't want my car rolling away until they are done, so i figured it's a good idea. my car is a manual shift so if anybody can try this for me I would greatly appreciate it. Also if you have any experiance with the SLP line lock system please comment on it. thanks in advance.

Not sure if a Line Lock was designed to be left on for a long period of time.
We wired a friend of mine's up wrong and it was on for maybe 4 or 5 minutes and it got really hot.

Horrible idea!!! The line lock solenoid is meant for momentary use only. Most of us will suggest you dont run a single toggle switch for the line lock.... You should have an arming toggle, then a MOMENTARY push button to actually kick the solenoid over.
You have a manual, put it in gear, turn the wheels/tires into something that will stop them (curb etc), or get yourself something to use a temporary wheel chock for now.
SLP line lock...what kind of comments are you looking for?? They all work. I think SLP has you wire it to a single switch...which like I said isnt the best way to do it. Plenty of threads with "arugments" or discussions on the wiring for them.

Ok well thanks for the suggestions. I was unsure about it so that's whyI figured I'd post up asking about using it for an e-brake. It's not so much a horrible idea as I was basically throwing cards at a hat trying to figure out my ebrake solution, it's the process of elimination. I can and already do leave it in gear and use a wheel stop when I park, but was just exploring all of my options. Again, thanks to you all for the input.

Hehe..ok, maybe the IDEA wasnt horrible. Didnt mean to come off like a jerk. For what its worth, it would TECHNICALLY work. However Ide be willing to be money that the solenoid either burn out, drain the battery or do something that wouldnt be good. Just not worth the risk I guess. But ide definetly just do it old school until you get your cable situation figured out.
