drum brake issues

My gta doesnt want to stop the rear wheels from spinning when idling up in the air unless i mash the pedal as hard as i can. I adjusted them and no change. Do they have an auto adjuster? If so, could it be installed backwards? Sorry, but i've always been a disc brake guy.

Re: drum brake issues

Yes they are auto adjusted, I would be looking at the rubber hose section for the back brakes. They will plug up with rust and debris over time.

Re: drum brake issues

I will check that out. I took it for a drive last night and the brakes seem to be better even though it still acts the same in the air, but now I suddenly have a vibration under braking. Might just tear the drums off today and check things out.

Re: drum brake issues

Just came in from the shop been working on my ride. Look around really close after pulling the drums and if you take it apart leave one side together for reference.

Re: drum brake issues

Well it looks like it fixed itself. The brakes are definitely working better since I adjusted them and the vibration wasn't there when I went out yesterday for another test drive before tearing anything apart. Not broke, don't fix it lol.

Re: drum brake issues

All right what has probably happened is your self adjusters at the bottom of the backing plate between the brake shoes need to be taken apart and cleaned and lubed.
