I've searched the forum but couldn't find a post that addresses this issue. When I bought the car, the emergency brake would pull all the way up with no tension. So, I figured the cable was snapped or was not attached. I pulled the console today to take a look and it seems like the cam is not turning to pull on the cable when the lever is lifted. I have a video attached. Is there a bolt or rivet missing from the cam so it doesn't rotate to pull the cable? Thanks!
I found this photo on another post. And, I can see where my brake is different. It looks like the cable should go up further into the half moon area and then connects through to the fully circular cam next to it. Is that correct? Is there a bolt or fitting that secures it?
Were you able to fix your problem? I have the same issue. 1990 camaro. I haven’t been able to find how the swivel arm will go back to the spot where it engages the cam. If I push the swivel arm to dig into the cam, it works but it won’t swivel into place on its own.

Nope, I never got a reply. Hopefully, someone can help before the weather improves and I can make this fix.
Hey guys, I just looked at this earlier and looked at my car while I was taking the car apart.
The issue in the video is the pawl (?) on the top of the cam isn't grabbing the teeth when you pull the lever. almost as soon as the lever is pulled the ratchet pawl should engage the teeth. The way this works is by the large spring on the back side of the video. Is the spring in place?
Thank you for the reply! So there should be a spring that moves the cam towards the teeth to lock it into place. I will look on my car once the weather improves to see if it is missing. Maybe it's a simple fix.
The spring is located on the driver side of the brake cam?
