88 Iroc 16" easiest front brake upgrade?

Hello, im not quite ready to do a ls1 brake upgrade as my funds for the car are running thin for the year already.

I would like to replace my front rotors/bearings however.

Is there any brand preferred for a essentially "stock" upgrade that would be a decent bang for my buck?

I was looking at the Power Stop Z26 any comments on these?

really not looking to spend more than $300

Ideally less, honestly.

Any help??

I suppose I will be getting the Power Stop Z26 with the calipers.

All bearings and grease included totals out at about $365.

Not terrible.

Sorry for the crappy post.

At that price point I'd probably go for stock rotors / bearings, and buy some good name brand performance street pads like Hawk HPS.

Without bigger calipers you aren't going to dramatically improve braking performance. Drilled and slotted rotors only reduce the surface area available for the job they're trying to do and are prone to cracking over time.

So forget about installing the calipers from this kit? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/pwr-kc1482-26

These Rotors and these Pads? Those will fit the stock calipers fine?

Would certainly save me some money.

If you can't afford what you want, keep your money in youre pocket, and save up some more.

EVERY PENNY you waste on those weeeeeenie 10" rotors puts you ONE PENNY FARTHER AWAY FROM your ultimate goal.

Common sense. Delay instant gratification in favor of long-term happiness.

Re: 88 Iroc 16" easiest front brake upgrade?

I know, but the problem is, I need brakes.

I've thrown nearly 2k at my rear end and engine just to get it riding properly already.

I was planning on getting it painted this year and I still need some new ground effects and new exhaust.

AND I gotta buy a new roof for my house this year lol.

I wanna be able to drive it throughout the year, so a major brake overhaul is going to have to likely wait until next year.

I used that Powerstop kit and am very happy with it...even 5 yrs down the road. For mostly stock in the engine dept. there are no stopping or fading issues. It made a big difference over the stock stuff I replaced. Maybe not LS1 difference and I had a sticky caliper so I had to replace them. The rebuilt powder coated calipers work just fine even for stock sized calipers and I have had no issues with the rotors. I also did the bearings.
