1991 Camaro RS 305 TBI, Fully Restored - SOLD!!!!!

Up for sale is my 1991 Camaro RS 305 TBI. I have owned it since May 2006, and have spent the last 4 ½ years doing a comprehensive cosmetic and mechanical restoration of the car. At this point, the car needs nothing but a driver. It is mostly stock, however there are some very nice additions that were not cheap. The car has a clean Carfax, can be a daily driver or weekend warrior, and can enter any local show and impress those who look at it. If you think that a ’91 RS isn’t worth $7,995, then don’t bother reading the following I have over $14,000 in documented receipts (along with other receipts I never added up) tied up in this car, and that doesn’t include actually buying it!

Overall Details…
- 119,000 miles
- Bright red with grey leather interior
- Loaded with power windows and locks, t-tops, leather seats, cruise and A/C (blows ice cold, converted to R134)
- 305 TBI with 5 speed

Mechanical Restoration…
In the last 12,000 miles, all of the following have been replaced…
-Full tune up, including AC RapidFire plugs, MSD 8.5MM wires, Blue Streak Cap and Rotor, fuel filter, K&N Open Element air cleaner
-All fluids changed, including coolant, trans and rear end fluids
-Radiator, hoses, thermostat and fan switch all replaced
-New KYB GR2 shocks and struts
-Both heads were pulled due to an external oil leak with the RH head. The heads were cleaned up, all gaskets and valve stem seals were replaced
-Both PW motors and one PL motor have been replaced, as have all switches
-I even replaced the coolant and washer fluid bottles with new OEM ones!
-I also replaced the valve covers with NOS ones because mine had slight surface rust!

Cosmetic Restoration…
In the last 12,000 miles, the following has also been done…
-Complete respray in factory bright red, done right. Both bumpers, ground effects, hood and hatch were removed, and resprayed the right way. Even working at the dealership, it cost me $2,900 to have done (retail on the job would’ve been $4,400, not including gasket replacement). Included in the respray was a new rear impact bar, new front turn signal lenses, and ALL NEW GASKETS. I paid a separate $500 in labor to have new door and t-top gaskets installed, and a small amount of rust repaired under the t-top gaskets. New window sweeps were installed as well.
-New windshield
-Both side windows were replaced with new PPG windows...one had a big chip in the top from being mis-aligned in the door due to old age, the other had scratches from the old window sweep.
-Slight rust on driver's floor from a windshield leak was professionally repaired. SOLID FLOORS...no rust underneath carpet or under car
-Brand new carpet, headliner, sunvisors and sail panels from 1AAuto installed this Summer!
-New NOS Lexan t-tops...NO SPIDER WEBBING! Edge weatherstripping is soft
-Beautiful new 17” polished American Racing Torq Thrust IIs with 245/45/17 BFG KDWSs.
-BRAND NEW CLEAR BRA just installed 2 weeks ago! Cost me $400…they covered the mirror caps as well

So, basically, this car looks brand new, and drives brand new. Now, for the FUN STUFF…

The Mods…

Mechanical:
-Edelbrock Performer TBI aluminum intake
-Edelbrock EnduraShine Aluminum water pump
-Edelbrock Elite 14x3 open element air cleaner
- Hypertech Stage 2 Chip
- Edelbrock TES TPI-sized (3” outlet) coated headers
- Magnaflow 3” stainless exhaust with 3” in/out
- Powermaster 200 amp black powdercoated alternator (you’ll see why in a minute)
-Pro 5.0 shifter with red anodized MBA aluminum shift **** with a bow tie etched into it

Chassis:
-TDS/Alston SFCs and Wonderbar
-Edelbrock 3 point STB

Electronics:
Note: I wanted this car to sound like a concert hall inside. No resonances, squeaks, rattles, nothing, when the stereo is on, because I lined the ENTIRE CAR is with Dynamat before reinstalling the carpet and door panels…from firewall to trunk to doors. You’ll know why if you can follow the equipment list here!
-Alpine 7986 deck with iPod cable, hidden in ash tray
-Xtant 403A Amplifier…running at 2 OHMs, puts out 50x4 + 200x1.
-Boston 764 4x6 plate front speakers, Boston SR95 6x9 rear speakers
-Eclipse Aluminum 12” sub
-Monster XLN speaker wire and RCAs, along with gold plated everything when it comes to connectors
-Monster Cap 1 Farad Cap
-Monster 0 gage power and ground wires (Amp recommends 2 gage…this amp draws 150 amps max!!)
-All protected by a Clifford Avant Guard alarm with proximity sensor, digital tilt sensor, accessory power delay and keyless entry/trunk pop. Also has a battery back up for the dual sirens
-This car seriously needs to be heard to be appreciated. This is not a “thump thump” system lacking mid bass and clarity. It sounds like a concert hall inside. Its exceptional.

So, why am I selling it? As you can see in my sig, I have 2 other third gens. I need this car like I need a hole in my head. My father has a 2000 Camaro SS he’d like me to buy from him, so I need to make room for it. This car is the real deal…a turn-key, drive away, do-nothing-to-it finished project. I hate to sell it, but I want this SS. I was asking $7,000 2 years ago when I thought I was buying his SS then, and had several PMs from people on here. I’ve spent over $4,000 on it since then…$8,995 is a steal. As I said, I have $14,000 invested that I have documented on a spreadsheet I am happy to email to prospective buyers, showing the costs of everything I’ve done and when.

I was going to throw a ZZ4 someday if/when the engine blew, but it runs beautiful. It burns about a half quart in 3,000 miles, and recently got me 26 MPG on a 600 mile trip to Maine and back! This car has never been raced, wrecked or abused in any way. Nothing leaks. There is NO RUST ANYWHERE. I'm not kidding when I say everything has been done. I never expected my dad to sell his SS, so I put countless hours/blood/sweat/tears/$$ into making this my ultimate third gen. It shows in every way...the car gets compliments everywhere it goes. I need to do a small amount of finishing in the trunk e.g. carpeting sub box. All wires and cap are run properly and the amp and everything is mounted in a professional manner.

PM me with questions…would like to move the car before it snows! Thanks for reading. Now, for the pics…

That car looks beautiful. Too bad it's the wrong time for me, or else I'd consider it. Good luck with the sale.

Re: 1991 Camaro RS 305 TBI, Fully Restored

Thank you very much for the kind words...I appreciate it. I know it isn't the ideal time to sell this car, but I'm going to try anyway. This is a car that's even better in person than it is on paper. I bought 2 third gens this year...I know with even a pristine example like my 21k mile IROC, I still had to replace the tires, the intake gasket, change all the fluids and replace the MAF relay.

Turn the key, and drive this one away.

Re: 1991 Camaro RS 305 TBI, Fully Restored

I admit I have not tried really at all to sell this car since posting this thread, as selling the car is bittersweet for me. However, Spring is here and my dad wants his garage space back...so the quest is on to sell it quick.

I've lowered the selling price from $8,995 to $7,995...I'd like the car to go to a third genner that will take good care of it. If you take the time to come see it, you'll buy it...its that clean. I have more pics I'm in the process of getting together. I also just got from GM Heritage Services and Triple A Enterprises a copy of the original invoice and a reproduction of the window sticker.

More pics and interior shots to come!

Re: 1991 Camaro RS 305 TBI, Fully Restored

I will be putting some up in the next day or two...its cloudy and rainy here, and the car hasn't been rained on since being repainted in 2007. I refuse to get it wet outside, and I don't know how well interior pics will come out inside the garage...but I'll give it a shot

I will PM you when they're up here...thanks for your interest. It looks great with a new headliner, sail panels, sunvisors and carpet...the original leather has held up great over the years.

MORE PICS!

These are inside the garage...I apologize for the poor quality, but it was pouring rain outside. The car hasn't been rained on since it was painted in '07....I'm not about to change that.

In this pic, you can see the new Lloyds floomats I just bought in February for it, along with the red MBA **** (have the original if someone wanted it)

Here are some pics of the reproduction window sticker I had made just last week (before I decided to sell it)...one is laminated for car shows, while an additional full-size copy is loose. I was going to frame it...oh well...

This picture makes me realize how much I'm going to miss this car...this has been it's spot in the garage since I got it...looks a lot different than it used to.
