Aftermarket Speed Compensated Volume, any interest?
Just what the topic says, would there be any interest in an aftermarket speed compensated volume controller? I've recently replaced the stock cd player in my s-10 with an aftermarket and I'm going to work on a module that will be wired into the VSS signal going to the cluster and control the volume in the same manner as the stock delco radios do. Turn up the volume as you drive faster. It would interface with the radio via the IR remote control. Initially this would probably only work for sony indashes but I'd eventually reverse engineer all the major companies IR setups. The device would take the form of a small box (like 1x2x3/4") that you would mount anywhere in the car that had visual line of sight to the deck faceplate and then you'd wire up power and vss signal to it. Its also possible to design it so the box would reside under the dash and just a small wire with an infrared transmitter at the end would be placed visibly in the car. The device would be configurable for brand of deck, type of speedo signal, and ammount of compensation by plugging it into your computer with a serial cable or via dip switches on the device.
So the question is, what would you pay for such a device. $20? $40? Would you rather it be configurable via a serial cable to the computer or via dip switches.
I'm not looking for orders or anything. This is just an Idea that I'm definately going to design for my truck and if theres enough interest I'll put in the extra effort to design it as a low cost aftermarket add on.

Make it small and cost effective and I would really go for that. Making adjustments thru dip switches is old, but not everyone has a laptop or anything to do it otherwise. Go for it and dont forget about Clarion Pro Audio gear for the IR.
