it has been put into security mode due to its positive and negitive power sources being disconnected, you will have to ask who u got it from to get the code, or have proof of purchase, and take it to the dealer and see what they can do if anything

There has to be a way to kill the internal clock. The thing cant hold power forever.

There are 2... 3 digit codes that GM needs to get your actual unlock code. once you have this you can disable the security feature. Most dealerships will do it for nothing, but alot will charge you a reprogram fee.

You can also try http://ls1.com/forums/index.html in the Electronics/Radios/Radar Detectors section. Look under FAQ at the top of that forum. Lots of other stuff there too.

Thanks for all the help guys, but the radio will not allow me to even try to enter the code. I hit almost any button and it says "InOp" anyway to get past this??

there is a sequence of buttons that have to be pressed to enter the code, perhaps someone who has a 4th gen radio will share

Once teh Radio says INOP, you have to leave the ingnition in the on position for at least an hour to allow it to clear. Once you have done this you must hold down presets 1 & 2 , this will give a 3 digit code, then hold down the am/fm button and it will give you another code. I think those are the right combos again, I will look at my books at work tomarrow.

To unlock the radio, when you turn it on, and it has 'loc' on the display, press the 'hr' button for the first 2 numbers then press the 'min' button for the second set of numbers. Then press the 'am/fm' button. You should then be able to turn the radio on.
