Well I do plan on making the box flow more with the car than that.but its the idea Im going with.Ill be sure to post pics as i go along.I will be keeping the factory pull out hatch cover to hide my amps etc but that doesnt do anything for the big *** box in the rear seats lol but hey thats why i put a expenisve alarm in with pager.but good luck with your car,Im sure whatever you decide to do will be amazing and sound nice.

Kandied91z, I know you already stated that you didn't want to put the subs past the rear axle and you wanted the storage space but here's a pic of my build I'm working on now (you've probably already seen it). It will be paint matched to the car once it's done.

interesting take raising it that close to the glass, i like it. something like that is different since the size you are using. i'm working with 3 10" for my setup.

well this is mine, like u said I dont think this is what u want, it is now no longer blue, but back to gloss white, I put a sheet of filon over the box which is used on the sides of RV's as the box with body filler still showed to many inperfections.

Has anyone made a sub box that didn't come so high up in the rear well? Stayed an inch or two about the lips in the bottom of the well? I'd like to put my t-tops back to where they go stock but I have 2 boxes and an amp right there.

you have use 12 inch subs... you can make a box that only takes up the well, and not the upper deck... then you can sit your t-tops in the stock location... and you might want to get some grilles for your woofers... ( I never did because I didn't care )

for those that care this is what i had....definately not what i wanted but a very primitave and cheap design mind you which worked for the time. local shops wanted upwards of $5,000 for similar things with only slight amounts of fiberglass so when i was in a bind with 2 days and a $50 budget i threw this all together.

so many use the rear hatch area for the subs that i was trying to steer away from it. now i'm just trying to figureout how to make the right .cu foot setup while keeping the subs slightly lower and still have room for the nitrous bottles underneath while keeping the amps topdeck and the air components in the well.

Hehe... nifty I always used that space to put beverages in there... you can stick a bottle of everclear and like 20 beers in there if you really try.

Hey Kandied91z, 5k is way to much you should think about doing it yourself. It's not all that hard just a lot of labor hours. My box I have around $550 total in it so far, but over 120+ labor hours easy (been working on it for almost 4 months). Nice thing about fiberglass about anything is possible.

yes 5k is alot but not abnormal around here however more then i will pay. the best i've found is 2k for the complete rear area and another 800 for the pannels and center console. as much as i want to do it i really don't have the time for such a time extensive project. i'm going to keep looking into it until fall and then go from there.

Guess it all depends on where you live at. Here most audio shops are still doing particle board boxes cause there isn't a dealer of MDF within an hour drive. When we did have a dealer they charged 105 bucks for a 4x8 sheet of 3/4". Course none of the shops here do fiberglass and most of the people here thought laying fiberglass was taking mat and putting the bondo fiberglass strand putty over it.

yeah out this way mdf is on every street corner in high quantities. custom fiberglass enclosures are normal and common as wheels on a car. i only want fiberglass to clean up the look of the car and get most of the wood out. not that it's a big deal but for some reason having wood in my car bothers me. beyond that though it's not uncommon to see basic forms of it in 2 out of 3 cars at most shows here.....then again 16 year olds driving $100,000 cars are also a normal thing.

haha, yeah I always put liquor in that glove box... because no one would ever look back there... especially once the cop sees my subs and his mouth drops open... and probably writes me some damn ticket

That's weird that you have custom audio shops, but not a Lowes, Home Depot, Scotty's or (insert local chain lumber store) to pick up MDF. In a one hour radius, there are probably 100 places to buy MDF around here.

We do have 2 lumber yards, but neither one stocks MDF now (both are usually high price anyways). I'm living out in the sticks here though. Takes me 1 1/2 hours to drive to the closest "Joes Crab Shack". Not to mention I have Amish as neighbors... They can't call the Police on you for having wild parties at least.

Anyways I'm hijacking Kandied91z thread... so back to the sub box talk. So have you any ideas that you're pondering for the design, Kandied91z?

actually, we do have a good deal of Lowes' & Home Depots' around here. To add on to what Kandied91z said, we do infact have car audio & car modification stores here almost on every corner as well.

But I guess thats what you get for living in the motor city!!!

Lastly, to Kandied91z - Was the last set of pictures you posted, taken at Metro Beach?!!

that's funny there are at least 100 places IN austin where I can get mdf... for $8 for a 4'x8' 1/2 MDF... if I want HDF I think its like $15... but that's almost overkill....
